Samsung LED TV Model UN32EH4003 Bad Cap?

Thought the Bad Cap Plague was over until saw a bulging cap on a Samsung LED TV Model UN32EH4003 power supply (PD32GVO_CHS BN44-00554B)

Since there is a "Good" same size cap (except is 200V instead of 160V) next to the bad one am thinking Samsung used too low Voltage. (Attaching Photos)

    Have never seen this brand.

    Appreciate comments concerning reliability.

    Thanks

    Ken,

I've seen two bulged caps in that same model set (same cap two different sets). I replaced them with
47 mf 160 v and they are still going.
Take a look at my previous posts on that issue.

        Mike,

Hoped that someone else had this problem!

Checked Samsung UN32EH4003FXZA - tries to start - problem found! https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=40665

We have same boards. Was interested that you posted this 09-24-2014 while the one am working on just happened. Am guessing difference due to amount time TV on?

"I replaced them with 47 mf 160 v and they are still going."

What Brand.... did you use? Glad to hear no failures!

This is not an expensive TV so what do you consider to be the most cost effective replacement Brand... for a permanent fix?

            Ken,

            I used Digi-key part number 493-13260-1
It is a Nichicon general purpose cap.
I did not look up the specs on the cap or the defective one in the set and try to match them.
All I can tell you is that both sets are still working with that cap installed.

Just use some generic one, I do for Led Tv's as well the Tv's themselves do not last long in general. Also after replacing it be sure to turn the backlight down to below half way if not it will fail again very shortly with an Led fault.

                Thanks for the cap info!

Forgot to ask, have you ever replaced the 47mF 200V cap (next to the 47mF 160V cap?

Am wondering if Samsung did a design flaw (too low Voltage or did not consider possibility of Led faults) or poor QC?

Are there any Good Samwha cap series?

I did a quick check (37p) "The Hall of Shame - Badcaps Photo Montage" https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...citors&page=37

Then checked Capacitor Database - need help https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...ghlight=samwha only got "UHH OHH!! Error 404!!" https://www.badcaps.net/index.php?pageid=404

Any tips on current Good and Bad Cap Mfr Series listings?

Not really, the Leds them selvs are pushed too hard and they fail in no time flat due to getting too hot.

"The Samwha WL series is defective as well as WB" Where did you find this info???

After much searching found something recent "The only "bad" brands I would honestly put above LTEC are Taicon and Hitano, TBH (although LTEC has been operating as one of Teapo's subsidiaries since April of 2005, so maybe LTEC has gone downhill since then). I'd tie Elite/Chinsan with LTEC (Elite are out of Thailand, however). Of course they are all unreliable and inconsistent compared to the Japanese brands but even some of those brands have proven that they can mess up and very badly at that, ala KZG/KZJ. That said, at least those previously awful ultra low ESR wet electrolytics are discontinued. Also keep in mind that these Korean brands are headquartered in Korea but do have factories in China and likely adopt and use many materials from there (IE materials processed in-house), although Samwha do import their aluminum foil from Japan if you could believe that. Older Samwha and Samyoung aren't so bad - I've seen 20+ year old VCRs and SCSI devices with them chugging along just fine. Samyoung is NCC's Korean subsidiary and Samwha Nichicon's, so those things may help." from Re: The Hall of Shame - Badcaps Photo Montage https://www.badcaps.net/forum/printt...&pp=20&page=35

Did not find anything about Samwha series so best to not use any???

                            Thanks again for your comments!!!

Reading some recent articles like "Samsung scraps TV LCD line in favour of flexible OLEDs by Julien Happich (June 14, 2016) http://www.ledlighting-eetimes.com/n...flexible-oleds "Once the L7 line is converted to OLED production line, four out of six plants owned by Samsung Display will produce OLED products, reads the report."

If all this is correct maybe it will not be too long.

Before finding the bad cap thought Samsung TVs had a "Good Reputation"

Googled and found "Samsung TV HomeElectronicsTelevisions Last updated: 06/29/2016 Consumer Complaints & Reviews"
                                      https://www.consumeraffairs.com/home...amsung_tv.html guess I was wrong!!!

read many posts like "I purchased a new 4K HDTV Samsung 40" television online and had delivered to my home. We began setting up the television immediately. The set up was in pictures rather than words but nonetheless, easy enough. There was no picture when we turned the television on. The screen showed purple and yellow lines in no order. After hours on assuming directions from Tech Support, Customer Service intervened. Customer Service offered a "repair" service to be scheduled in two weeks. If the television was deemed not repairable, paperwork would be submitted for a new television which would take another two weeks. Why would a new television need repair rather than replacement? I asked if the repair person could take a new, identical television on the truck when coming to repair but that idea was taboo. I found Samsung Customer Service unacceptable. I returned the television to Walmart with no problem." "We bought a huge Samsung TV in 2013 with all the bells and whistles. This year the picture stopped coming on when we turned on the TV. If we had the tv on for a while we could turn it off and on and eventually the picture would come on, but eventually the picture wouldn't come on at all. We hired a repair person to come (after trying unsuccessfully to get help from Samsung Customer Service) and they said we need a new main board. There are so many details to this story, but the bottom line is I spent hours on the phone with customer service and they were useless. I got the impression that many others have this problem, which I attribute to Samsung using cheap main boards. I will NEVER buy another Samsung product...." "This tv isn't even 2 years old. So a $600 television ended up costing me nearly $1000.00. I thought Samsung was a great product name. I'll never buy another Samsung product." "I contacted Samsung and paid $90 for a service call only to find out that the LED panel was defective. To replace the LED panel it would cost me $1398.00. Samsung stated they could do nothing to help me out even though I have only had the TV a little over 3 years. So to have a TV last me 4 years or more, I would have to have paid over $4300.00. I have a Sharp LED TV that I purchased in 2011 and it still runs perfectly."

Seems bad main boards and LED panels are not limited to just low end Samsung TVs.

More than just that, the Lcd screens crapping out is very common which is not fixable (causes lines and the Lcd not to work) the backlights, Tcons, Mainboards, power supplies even the power Led and Ir board. Not just common issues with these Leds its a stack of problems just waiting to happen in each board.
