    Samsung Smart TV UN32H5500

I'm having some issues with this TV, and I've tried asking a bunch of different forums for help. I was referred here by someone who sells replacement parts, so I'll give it a whirl. Here's what you need to know.

After awhile of being on, the video will start to "jump" or "shake" (horizontal lines) and soon after that, the video will go black but the audio will still be there. The longer the TV is off, the longer it takes for this problem to occur.

I have replaced the Power Supply, and the T-con board, with the same results. After I first swapped out the Power Supply, I left the TV on for 6 hours before seeing the Horizontal lines or "shaking", so I turned it off, went to sleep, and when I woke back up I turned it on and only after 15 minutes the problem started after being off for roughly 8 hours.

This leads me to believe that the only conceivable issue that is left, is the Main Board. I don't want to do any of the weird repairs I've seen on YouTube (changing diodes on the board to a higher voltage, etc).

My question to all of you is:

    1) Do you think the Main Board is the issue here?

    2) I bought the TV for $125, and spent another $25 on the Power Supply and T-con board. Should I just sell the parts online and buy a new TV, or buy a main board for $42?

    3) If it's not the Main Board, could it be a faulty wire somewhere between the three pieces (Power Supply, T-con, Main Board)? Or is it just over-heating and there's nothing I can do about it?

I'm really running out of patience and money for this TV, but fathers day is coming up and would really like to fix this for my pops. He is using a 27 inch screen from 15 feet away and can barely see it, but this TV works great for him (until it started this problem).

Thank you for any help you can provide, I really appreciate the help and opinions on the matter.

you could try heating the mainboard with a hair dryer and see if you can make the fault appear quicker or try aiming a fan at the mainboard too keep it cool some main boards have bga chips that the solder fails on heating/cooling the mainboard may help prove the boards at fault.
pictures of the boards and part numbers from them mayhelp us too as we may of seen this fault before.

I had a similar case on a Samsung mainboard some months ago and the faulty part turned out to be one of the LD1117 around the tuner .. Those smd regulators supply fixed voltages , and their identifier is usually written under the LD1117 code , like 33 and then it is 3.3 volts , or 5 , then it is 5 volt , or Ad , then it is an adjustable regulator and so on ..

I considered it back then an easy catch , since the regulator was visibly toasted . Try checking out those regulators and surrounding capacitors and good luck .

If you don't wish to spend more money on a main board you may want to see if any of the electronic recycling centres in your area have a set like yours maybe with a busted screen etc they usually sell them for quite cheap.Otherwise I'd suggest that you go over the main board and see if it has any bad soldering connections.Unplug and re-plug in any main board connectors.Do the same thing with any ribbon connections, you may want to clean the ribbon connections and ribbon socket connections. You'd be surprised in how many sets I've repaired that had different problems all related to bad connections.
Many brand new devices like TV;s etc have bad soldering connections so it's not a bad idea to check for bad soldering connections in any set etc that you work on.One last note a lot of the times you can tell what boards usually fail on any set just by how much the boards are selling for and how available they are.Another thing to note is if any of the known board sellers etc have listed repaired kits for the suspected faulty board.

By the way I really like this Forum. Its great to see ppl helping other ppl and ppl fixing stuff instead of just tossing it out.

I will try heating the main board here in a bit and see if that brings the problem sooner, that's a great idea thank you! I also had a fan on it that morning I woke up after having it on for 6 hours, but the back panel was on. I will try to get pictures, but will definitely get the Serial Number for the Main Board.

I'll check the regulators, although I did check out the diodes for any visible over-heating (as I've seen countless times in PC's)

That's also a great idea of an Electronic Recycling Center, I'm sure theres one around here but I'll have to find out where (small town!) I'll def. check the connections and re-plug in everything, and also clean the ribbon connections. How would I go about cleaning them safely? I heard that they are quite sensitive and from previous experience with other electronics they can be easily ruined if not handled correctly, and I haven't handled any like that before. And about the part selling on Ebay, there are no full kits that I saw (maybe one, but I looked at this guys profile like I do for all things I buy, reputation, other auctions, etc) just to make sure he isn't selling tons of these boards or tons of other parts for the same television. They were all different that he was selilng. I will also have to check the soldering connections.

And yes, this forum looks promising, since I got three replies in the time it took me to get one short reply on another "fix it" forum, the same one that told me "it's definitely the power supply"...yeah...then I ask again and the one guy says "main board for sure". So it's definitely nice to have a few opinions from a recommended forum Thank you all for your responses, and here are pictures of all the serial numbers on the Main Board. Wasn't sure which one you wanted, so I just took a picture of each sticker and the one on the cable plug in.

Thank you again! (hopefully the numbers in the pictures are readable)

Bump, should I replace the Main Board? Is that logical? Money is not an issue right now.

Either the tcon or the main board. is the OSD stable or does it jitter around too?

T-con has already been replaced. What is the OSD?

osd on screen display please also remember if your using second hand parts not all sellers actually test them so your replacement part may also be faulty.

but as above my guess tcon or mainboard at fault.
