    Sanyo DP42848 bad ccfls?

    Hello all

A friend brought me this TV to see if I could fix it.

TV has the classic sound but no picture issue that I am pretty sure is caused by a few bad ccfl bulbs which seems to be a common issue for this model of TV.

I just wanted to get some opinions from a few more experienced people.

Symptoms: After pressing the power button the green power light comes on and about 3sec later the backlights light up (with a buzzing noise) then go right back out.

I have read that disconnecting the K8L connector should cause the backlights to stay on for a longer period of time, but when I tried it the only change was that I got the backlight flash immediately after pressing the power button instead of the 3sec delay that happens when K8L is connected.

Tests done so far: checked fuses on both inverter boards, checked voltages and they were ok.

A few times the TV would stay on (with a buzzing noise) and what looks like 3 darker lines going across the TV (bad ccfls I'm assuming)

What is causing the TV to work sometimes and not most of the other times?
can I "hot wire" the TV to run with a few bad bulbs or would that be dangerous?

    thanks

Mystery 80s Sanyo cap - perhaps polymer?
    by cj_reha
Hey all I've been working on a 1984 Sanyo 27" color TV which had a smattering of bad caps in the video switching circuit. I found this oddball little 1uF 25V cap which looks to me like an early polymer, but I can't find concrete info proving it. I know Sanyo was a big player in early polymer cap development and this is the time period where they were just getting on the market, so I'm wondering if anyone has crusty old datasheets that could help identify it and determine if my suspicions are right? It has the same epoxy end seal and font/formatting as some old stock Os-Cons I've got laying...

    Sanyo DP5834 - Gray Screen
    by toddw65
    Hey All,

I have a Sanyo DP5834 that did have an issue with the backlights, but I disassembled the unit and repaired the LED strips by resoldering all of the connectors. Now I've reassembled it and I have backlights and sound, but a grayish screen. I can tap on the screen and see that it's on, but no picture. All voltages seem to be correct on the power board.

Based on the LCD Flat panel TV troubleshooting guide by Bud Martin, I'm thinking the T-Con has failed because I'm getting 12v both into and out of FP1 on the T-Con. Am I on the right track?

    Thanks,...

Unknown IC heating up on a Hp looping every 3sec
    by DoOm86
Hello. Notbebok Hp 15s-fq2004nl, board DA0P5MB38A0, turns on and then off after 3 seconds, in loop. Powering on with full battery, or with original charger, or both, same result. With power supply and everything unplugged, same.
No core voltages... but no shorts was found (31 ohms the coil of the cpu) . Bios ic sends data and has the right voltage in those 3sec.
3v ldo present, 3v and 5v just in those 3 sec.
This IC is mad hot (70 degrees) after pressing the power button, no info was founded about it. On the IC is written "W384" and "2823D". No board schematic...

    Sanyo VHR-D4710G VCR no sound.
    by hugocarmo
    Hi again guys.
Today I have a problem with this Sanyo VCR.
I bought it online, It worked sometimes.
I recap the Power supply and it started working fine.
Image is perfect and all digital effects too.
All of a sudden it stopped outputting sound. I checked for dried solders an all boards and soldered when needed, no fix.
I have no sound on playback, on tuner, or aux in.
On symptom I noticed is when it was working fine, the HI-FI led was on when I power up the VCR, now is OFF, A-B leds are on but when I put a tape they go off.
On one of the sound processing...
