Unknown IC heating up on a Hp looping every 3sec

Hello. Notbebok Hp 15s-fq2004nl, board DA0P5MB38A0, turns on and then off after 3 seconds, in loop. Powering on with full battery, or with original charger, or both, same result. With power supply and everything unplugged, same.
No core voltages... but no shorts was found (31 ohms the coil of the cpu) . Bios ic sends data and has the right voltage in those 3sec.
3v ldo present, 3v and 5v just in those 3 sec.
This IC is mad hot (70 degrees) after pressing the power button, no info was founded about it. On the IC is written "W384" and "2823D". No board schematic was found either.
If anyone has suggestions, let me know. Thanks.

See attached. From another similar HP board, this is PU551 and is part # G2823D

Yeah it seems to be the one, that is very helpful πŸ”
Let's see if I can fix it now, thanks. I'll update the post when the chip arrives.

Chip has arrived, swapped it and the chipset got shorted instantly. Maybe it was even before, I'm not sure. What I am sure it is the end of this motherboard. Too bad.
Thanks anyway for your help πŸ’ͺ🏼

This chip is still getting hot? Then there may be a short on the rail created by this chip.

With no power, measure the resistance to ground of inductor PL551. A low resistance means there is a shorted part causing an excessive load condition. Be sure the replacement part was soldered in the same orientation as the original.

This is common fault on Quanta OP5 series m/b. The Output of this regulator goes directly to cpu. Perhaps 1.8V. Have seen 3-4 boards with exact same issue.

Yes the new chip was still getting hot.
I didn't find any short before I ordered a new one. I installed the new one, checked, everything was fine. I turned the laptop on and I had backlight but no video, the laptop at least turned on and I thought "ok, this one is solved, there is another fault". But then the laptop shut down itself and guess? Same as before and the chip was hitting up like the first one. Still no short according to my multimeter even after removing the chip, but a low resistance of course on the coil of the output. So I carefully injected a bit of of current on the coil and with my thermal camera (just arrived) I notice a corner of the chipset was getting warm. So I guess it was a short or partial short, not sure if it was there since the beginning and without the thermal camera I couldn't see it clearly.

Same behavior here with the DA0PADMB8F1 board (HP 14s-dq1040ns).

Looks like the 2823D is the same as the Richtek RT8068AZQW.

But it is not short-circuited, I think the problem is somewhere else.

The best way to drive a heating element?
                    by EasyGoing1
I've got this circuit that I've been playing with on a breadboard. I'm not happy with it mainly because the MOSFET gets too hot and generally controlling the temp of the heating element with the Arduino has proven to be a little more cumbersome than I would like.

What I would like to know, is what is the best way to set up a circuit like this? The heating element is just a PCB and its going to be mounted under a 3D-printed enclosure that a lizard will use to warm his belly.

This is the general setup that I have now.

                    Hello everyone,

I'm currently diagnosing a MacBook Pro A1707 motherboard that does not power on. I've gathered some data but am stuck and need expert advice.
Note that i'm a beginner in electronics and i'm trying to learn while trying to repair this macbook that my work gave me. I'm really curious and love understanding how thing works and i already learned so much.

Only one usb c port is taking 20v and have 12.5v on PPBUS_G3H. when trying other ports, 2 are not going to 20v and one is going to 20v but the CD3215 is getting really hot.

                    Observations...
