Samsung 32" LCD TV LE32R51BD - Blue band on screen

    Hi Guys,
while I am in the process of trying to sort my main tv Hitachi 32HXC01UB backlight problem,I am using a Samsung LE32R51BD that was salvaged from a recycle centre. It works ok except for a vertical blue band about 1.5" wide from top to bottom and its about 12 inches in from the right hand side of the LCD screen.Pictures attached to show fault.
I will also need to obtain the correct remote control,am using one of those reprogramable poundshop remotes at the moment.
Is there a cure, any info appreciated.
    Cheers.

If you flex the top of the set, but carefully, does it change. It looks like a tab problem but hopefully I'm wrong. It would be worth your while doing a search on this site for Tab related problems and see what comes up.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

I dont think its a tab bond issue but the Lcd glass its self. I have seen the foils in the glass become warped and the tft connections breakdown due to ages and heat etc and you get artefacts like this. Maybe try the tab bonds if not use the bacon method lol

Tried flexing the top of the set and applied gentle pressure to screen in affected area,no change though.I assume the tab bonds become detached over time, I dont have a lot of experience with lcd screens so bear with me, although I have repaired several lcd computer monitors with faulty caps in the power supplies. Is there a cure short of replacing the LCD screen?
          Cheers..

                  Hi Reeceyburger,
Thanks for the offer of the LEDS, I bought 10 0.5 watt smd leds off Ebay as a gamble but they are are a tad too large but only cost a couple of quid.Have got a 9 LED strip cut in two also off the bay arriving tomoz/satdy.
Should be in Wellington around 1pm fingers crossed but a quick spin around 4 pubs to get the Mild in May stickers as well as 3 more in Oakengates.
Getting back to the Hitachi, I get 37 volts LED supply off load before the voltage dies to zero, just hope the FET and LED array chip are OK.24 volt rail is OK.I can sort the FET but don't have a hot air station, just an Antex 24 volt 30 or 40 watt thermostatic station but with a good selection of tip sizes.Piss poor eyesight dont help either !

Hi,will be visiting the Cock Hotel,Pheasant,William Withering and Wrekin Inn, will see if time permits the Telford Dukes. The voltage was measured with the 2 pin LED connector disconnected,at 3 volts per LED it should be 66 volts ?I have a thurlby PSU that is variable to 30 volts which is what I used the test the LED arrays.the one thats failed is next to the connector on the upper strip,so its gonna be tight to fit !

Yeah, I know the ones you mean. Be careful in the cock you get some dick heads in there and thats not a pun lol.

Also 30v is not correct you should get 80v at start up then if its working should go to 68v when the Pwm kicks in. So your driver is not being turned on enough. Fix the Led first then see what happens bud. If its still faulty then will guide you on what to do next.

                          will do..
Can I test the LED array via the Hitachi PSU without reconnecting the TCON and LCD screen?
Just saves reassembling the bloody thing.
BTW still can't find the bacon fix unless you mean the 6 inch subway one..lol

Lol, you dont need the Lcd or tcon connected to test the backlight it should fire on the booster.
