Re: Agora AGR-19-822-COB, Backlight Fault
Finally sussed fault and after a lot of fun and games dismantling the LCD screen discovered a burnt electrode arcing to chassis on one of the CCFL tubes.Replaced with LED backlight kit with driver board.Connected 12v supply,Ground,Dimmer and Enable lines off power board header to signal board. The power board is a Vestel 17ips16-4.What I need to do now it to disable the inverter, can anyone tell me which component to remove to disable its power feed please?

Re: 17IPS62 recurring failures
Would you know which component to remove to disable the inverter on a 17ips16-4 a similar later board. I have just fitted an LED backlight conversion kit as the CCFL tubes were spent and had blackened ends.

Re: Agora AGR-19-822-COB, Backlight Fault
Have ordered some FDS8962C chips which are complimentary pair mosfet packages.
Also ordered CCFL tester.
If both CCFL tubes are faulty, is an LED conversion straightforward bearing in mind the current power board is a Vestel 17ips16-4.
Am thinking of supply, standby and brightness control arrangements.
Thoughts guys?

Agora AGR-19-822-COB, Backlight Fault
Hi,
I use this as a 19 inch CCTV monitor, via the SCART socket.
Last night after power up, worked for a few seconds, then shut down.
Standby light flashing orange and a chirp from the power supply transformer.
Normal standby is blue, power on is orange.
Power Board is Vestel 17ips16-4 version 20522876.
Checked diodes D814,D815,D817,D818 and startup cap C807 33UF/50V all OK.
Wisp of smoke from 8 pin smd chip near CCFL back-light driver transformer.
On power down and power up, TV will go to standby and power up with no back-light.
Evidence...Last edited by Jackplug 123; 04-10-2023, 10:19 AM.

Re: Sony KD-43XE8005 with sound, backlight, no picture
Shorted decoupling caps on the thin driver board could be the problem.
I was about to check mine, but to expose the board involved a bunch of screws removing on the bottom lcd screen frame section.Decided to try the tape method first, my next task is to isolate the bad clock line or lines out of 8 lines.
However the initial result was surprising good picture.
Have a look at Michael Dranfields videos on YouTube, one deals with a set with shorted caps.He uses a milli ohm meter to narrow the field down.Good ...

Re: Sony KD-49XE8396 49" Bravia LCD TV
Finally took a chance and isolated first 9 pins of left TCON ribbon cable ie all 8 clock pins with some hi tech sellotape.
Result full picture.
Saved checking the LHS interface board to LHS of screen.
Now comes the tricky fiddly bit, isolating the faulty clockline.
Am gonna need a bigger magnifying glass!
Picture seems OK but yet to test HI resolution mode on TV.
Thanks to Nomoresonys for his help, especially the sticky tape fix link....

Re: Sony KD-49XE8396 49" Bravia LCD TV
Just spent a while mapping the 60 pins
starting from the left hand side
pin1
pin2 clock 1
pin3 clock 2
pin4 clock 3
pin5 clock 4
pin6 clock 5
pin7 clock 6
pin8 clock 7
pin9 clock 8

Re: Sony KD-49XE8396 49" Bravia LCD TV
There appears to be 60 pins per TCON output ribbon cables

Thanks, will try isolating the pins on the ribbon cable and checking for shorted surface mount caps on the LCD interface board.

Re: Sony KD-49XE8396 49" Bravia LCD TV
Thanks Nomoresonys, my thoughts on a shorted cap came from a you tube video from Michael Dranfield working on a Samsung Tv,turned out to be just one but he had to use a milliohm meter to narrow the field down.Do the TCON ribbon cables have double sided connections and presumably sellotape will do the job isolating the pins?
Thanks..

Re: Sony KD-49XE8396 49" Bravia LCD TV
Hi NOMORESONYS, thanks for the info.Is is worth also checking the surface mount decoupling capacitors on the long thin board on the left that interfaces the TCON board to the LCD panel. Are there COFs fitted on the ribbon to the LCD screen?Looks like a bit of a job to expose this board many screws to remove along the bottom edge so condition unknown until I do.
One thing I did early on was to perform a reset by holding the power button and vol down while powering up.No change to fault as seen on my pictures.Presume original TCON...

Sony KD-49XE8396 49" Bravia LCD TV
Hi There,
When this set developed this fault a member of the family passed it on to me,while they bought a newer set.
On power up via the separate 19v SMPSU, a dark screen, backlights and sound OK.
On removing the rear cover later, I checked the TCON board and ordered a replacement just in case. The replacement board made no difference.Prior to replacing the TCON board,I cleaned all 3 ribbon cables with iso prop alcohol.
Disconnecting one of the two LCD ribbons going to the LCD/Gate driver boards, managed to get half a working RHS screen with half the SONY logo "NY"...

Re: Toshiba 26WLT66s 26" LCD TV Query
Checked the set earlier, all back cover screws intact and would seem to be untouched inside since manufacture.Built like a brick out house and weighs 15kg, heavy for a 26 inch set.Caps seem Ok but would be fun to fix on the component count!

Re: Hitachi 32HXC01UB - Intermittent Blank Screen
This Turkish delight had one more surprise in store for me, as an encore it decided to have another backlight failure!
This will be the third repair since using the set.The backlight array seems to fail every 2 to 3 years even with the backlight set to LOW.
Just finished fixing it and having a well earned cup of tea.
This thread is solved for now.
Cheers
Steve

Toshiba 26WLT66s 26" LCD TV Query
While trying to sort my Hitachi 32HXC01UB, see earlier posting, am using my spare set, snagged for for free via my local facebook group.
The remote control needed a strip down and clean due to previous owners' liquid spillage, but other than that fine.Made in 2006, still works fine once it was setup and reprogrammed.Surprised to find it has two HDMI sockets.
Are there any stock faults I should be aware of, I assume the backlight array are cold cathode lamps?
Cheers

Re: how to reset lamp hours on acer x117h projector
Used to do this at work with Hitachi and Sanyo projectors.
Sometimes the hour counter will shut the lamp down typically after 2000 hours of use or more depending on the age and make of the projector, resetting the counter will eek a bit more use out of the lamp in an emergency.Don't forget to remove and clean both air filters regularly.
