Have you tried to upgrade or reinstall the firmware. The delay seems to indicate it's timing out.

OK check to see what is happening to the voltage at BLU_ON/OFF when you switch on and as it goes into error.

I wonder if the BLU_ON is drven by a mosfet / transistor by the processor on the main board.

There are 3 transistors close to the connector. Q203, Q205 & Q1301

Ordered a replacement off eBay. We'll see if that brings things back to life. Not worth SMD rework to fix a $14 board. =/

Just got the replacement board. Worked perfectly! Now I just have to figure out why this board failed. =P
