I'm going to take a closer look at the lower end connections & the skinny PC board(s) at the bottom of the TV..
Also going to try the flex test & see what gives there...
Try & check both tomorrow...
Also;..
In the manual you graciously posted in post #7 there is a pix I'd like you to take a look at..
See attachment..
Please go to page #3 & take a look at the top right pix..
Do you think that that is what is wrong with my TV???
The symptom shown is 180* out from mine..
In other words , the video (ignal) on mine is on the right side & not the left as shown..
(I magnified the pix to see the lines)
IF that's the case , then the Main Board is bad..
You agree ???
OK , you're right...
Got caught up in optimism ..
I'll do the PC & flex test tomorrow & get back to you then...
IF you are not online tomorrow , have a GREAT day & weekend......
THANK you VERY , VERY much for ALL your GREAT help & advice......
Yeah, it is puzzling one for sure. I have seen that kind of lines on the screen before but it was on the whole screen not just in section like your and it was due to bad 5V supply, yours are different.
Over the weekend , I tried to flex the 42" Vizio & I have to tell you that that TV is rugged..
I could not flex it at all....
I also took the TV partially apart to check on the lower end connections & the skinny PC board(s) at the bottom of the TV..
Each of the ribbons that go there have 3 more ribbons that go to the LED panel..
See 2 attachments below...
I could not see anything wrong with the ribbons ..
I applied thumb & finger pressure on some of the ribbons that go to the LED panel & got no change in any of the lines on either side..
That doesn't mean they're good..
So , it may not be a bonding issue...
One thing that I'm puzzled by...
That half screen distortion one, one half has perfect picture, but your screen has those vertical lines on both sides of the screen.
Well , yes & no....
When I did the ribbon test in post #17 , the lines disappeared on the right side when the ribbon for the left side was disconnected...
And the video on the right side is clean !!!
I got the lines on the left side when I disconnected the ribbon for the right side...
And no hint of any video !!!!...
So , my laymen's mentality is telling me that maybe the LED panel is OK because the lines are only on one side & gone from the other...
For some reason they are on both sides when both ribbons are connected...
Seems to me that maybe there's some sort of interaction between the two sides when both are connected..
Also seems to me that IF the LED panel were bad , there would be lines on both sides no matter which ribbon is connected or disconnected...
Make sense ???
Do you think that that could be a bad Main Board ???
The board there has their number as;=>..
3642-1792-0150 >>(2C)<<
My board is;=>..
3642-1792-0150 >>>(2D)<<<
Does the "(2C)" sub for the ("2D)" ??...
Even tho both their board & mine have this number in common;=>.
0171-2271-5032
I think that that number has to do with the PC & not necessarily the circuitry ..
Correct ???..
