Afternoon Guys,
This isn't the usual Me asking for help, Just want to Pay back some of the advice i have been given over the years and post a fix for the Above TV...
Background to this was that a friend of a friend brought me this 15.6" TV that he used for his CCTV system in his shop....
Someone had already had a go at fixing it but told him it wasnt fixable....
To me that is a challenge....
Symptoms were that the TV would power on to a steady red light... No blinks, no flashes just dead...
My first thought was being a poloroid that a Diode had died on the Vestel board like usual.... But i had not seen one of these all in one 12V boards before....
So after a few hours of scratching my head and shaking my head at the dodgy soldering done by the previous trier.... I got out my multi meter and started testing Voltage regulators thanks to the help from the V Reg Testing thread i could figure out that one of the following could have been the issue.
U904
1117SADJ
Pin1 - 0.67V
Pin2 - 0.53V
Pin3 - 4.27V
------------------------------
U903
1117-S33
Pin1 - 0.00V
Pin2 - 3.29V
Pin3 - 4.89V
------------------------------
U908
1117-S33
Pin1 - 0.00V
Pin2 - 3.02V
Pin3 - 4.89V
------------------------------
I surmised that the possibility was that either U904 was at fault or something around it was faulty....
After Testing the voltages and tracing where the components went to... i replaced the U904 Regulator and plugged in for a first test...
Boooo Ya.... The TV powered straight up...
Hope this helps someone, although i know that the 15.6 inch TV's are quite rare these days... a V Reg could be at fault on other TV's Like the Supermarket cheaper brands....
