    Drawing Schematics

Hi everyone. As repair techs, we all know how hard it is to find schematics for TV boards. What I would like to know is if anyone here draws there own schematics. If so, what program do you use and what process do you go through.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

For reverse-engineering small sections of complicated boards--pencil and paper cant be beaten.
--pointless messing with pc's and mouses for this sort of work--too messy and time-consuming.

        Re: Drawing Schematics

i draw lots of schem's, using EagleCAD.
        http://www.cadsoftusa.com/
it's free for small pcb's and there is no limit to schematic size.on the free version!

other people like to use KiCad
        http://kicad-pcb.org/
totally free - i need to try it soon.

both work on Lin,win & mac

        i found this btw.

          Re: Drawing Schematics

If the board is multi-layer it would be difficult to reverse engineering the schematic. I think on single layer boards it would be best to use the virtual board layout like what BudM uses. Then follow it up with the actual board and ohm meter to verify the points are connected. You would print out a picture of the virtual board layout and use a red marker to check off the lines to each node. At the same time you can start drawing the schematic. So you would red check the node points after you verify it with a meter. So if you go from node point 1 to node point 2. You measure that continuity to verify, you then draw that line and then you check that line off from node 1 to node 2. You then proceed to the next line. The only other way that I know of instead of using a virtual is to keep on ohming out from bottom to top flipping back an forth starting at one node following all the lines at that one node, both top and bottom side of the board and drawing them down on a piece of paper. Then you would go to the next node and do the same thing. I would put a sticker on that node after I was done with it. I would also arbitrarily label each component so you know which one you are working with unless the manufacturer has labeled them and therefore you can use his labels.

            Asus Nexus 7 2012 (ME370T REV 2.4) Schematics needed
            by Popalwali
            Hello Everyone,

I will be really grateful if someone shares schematics and if possible the boardview of the old Asus Nexus 7 (2012) Tablet. The motherboard is ME370T Rev. 2.4. Now I can find schematics for the Rev. 1.0 but I could not find the schematics for the Rev 2.4. I tried to look for similarities in the Rev. 1 but there are somethings missing, plus the board i have has nearly no component names printed on it which as a newbie makes pretty hard for me to locate things. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thank you.

If anyone needs schematic diagrams for any pro audio gear like what professional musicians use, such as guitar amps, power amplifiers, vintage tube amps, musical gear like keyboards, effects pedals, guitar wiring diagrams and service manuals, check out https://schematics.ca . I'm a road musician and an electronics tech and I got schematics for just about every piece of gear in my band from this site and they are free to download. It's always good to be prepared in case you fry something while on on the road, which always happens it seems. https://schematics-free.com has a lot of free audio schematics...

JBL Soundbar 2.1 Deep Bass PSU No DC Power Output (Detailed, w/ Schematics)
            by _AcE_
I have two of these soundbars, both with the exact same issue. The soundbars were hit by lightning and no longer power on. The PSU does not output any voltage on the DC side. When plugged into mains, the DC output is a stone-cold 0.0 volts. The AC side of the PSU seems to be functioning correctly (as far as I can tell). When checking the plugged-in PSU with my thermal camera, the OB5269CP PWM controller (U1) and the two resistors (R12 and R13) pulse on and off. These run to the positive DC side of the bridge rectifier (among other components along the way).

            There's no physical damage...

Help identifying a chip for Lenovo Slim 7 16IAH7 - schematics needed
            by trepachka
I have this Lenovo Slim 7 16IAH7 notebook that is not booting properly. All voltages are there: 5v, 3.3v, 1.8v but it's still a no-go.

I spotted this IC chip with markings "6611c" on it. The coil near this chip measures around 200 Ohms which I think is too low. But without the schematics, it's just a guess.

I wonder if someone has the schematics for this board or perhaps, can help me identify this particular ship. Thanks....

Need schematics and Bios Flash for Radeon HD 8490 OEM (109-C55357-00_02 V309)
            by jpserver25s
I'm trying to explore on fixing things like this GPU I have, it got two resistors missing when I received It. Its for an old PC the seller even told me its r5 240 and seemed its even flashed to show its r5 240 but the PCB says 109-C55357-00_02 V309 OUGA11 please can I get its schematics and Bios Flash? It has 1GB DDR3 memory, and I believe it is based on AMD Oland XT/Pro (HD 8490). thanks in advance!...
