    Samsung LN37A550P3FXZA not powering up

    Hey folks,

Stumbled upon this forum while doing some research on my TV set and was blown away at the amount of knowledge.

Had the notorious flashing red standby light that eventually stopped flashing. I would manage to get the tv to turn on every once and a while by unplugging the tv and plugging it back it but eventually that stopped working. After doing some reading I opened her up and noticed some bad caps. Went ahead and replaced those and put it all back together. After powering it up I couldn't get it to turn on. I did however notice that the digital audio (out) has a flashing red light with the sound of the power board powering off and on.

I'm kind of a standstill on what do to next. Hopefully someone can provide some, insight. Thanks in advance!

Please can you post pictures of the back of your set (rear cover removed ) to see the boards and layout which could prove useful for those who may be able to help.
Have you taken any voltage readings and if so again it would help if you could post the results.

Flashing power LED is more likely the common failure of C102:

You can parallel 47~100uF 16V LOW ESR in parallel to see if the problem will go away.

        Hello Budm
Do you know what power supply is used in that set. I thought it was a BN44-0202A but I could not find a schematic for it.
        Thanks

Its the one that you posted in your own post #2 in this thread.
Samsung BN44-00216A (PSLF231501C) Power Supply. Anyway that is for us in NA.

Thanks CapLeaker. In the service manual I read a different model number which was BN44-0202A but wasn't sure then which supply was fitted in it.

Sorry for the delay in replying. Haven't taken any voltage readings as I'm not too sure where to start.

Can we have a better picture of the power supply and the back side of the main board?

The other way around. I wanted a pic of the front of the power supply then the back side of the main board.

Ugh my bad! Let me know if these are ok. I'm leaning towards a repair kit from shop jimmy unless you guys can spot something.

Check those smd capacitors on the back of the main board (top right corner and else where). Solder a 16v 100uf in parallel with the smd cap, watch the polarity. If that doesn't go, try that main board repair kit that budm posted.

C102 on the bottom side of the main board as shown in shopjimmy in the link I posted, solder in the 100uF cap in parallel with C102 to see if the startup problem will go away, the cap should be replaced no matter what any way due to common failure of the cap. I NEVER have to replace the IC.

So I just received my caps in the mail and want to make sure I don't mess this up. I found c102 but it seems there is 8 pins on it. Do j solder the cap across pin 1 and 2. Sorry for the amateur question but this isn't my forte

C102 is a capacitor with only 2 connection. You need to look again at the numbering.

I matched that main board over at SJ in order to have a better picture. I think you are referring to IC102. That is not the cap. However on your last picture, top right corner, there are 2 IC's over and under. On top of that first IC there is a black smd cap with a white stripe on it. That's the one to try. On your pic I can't read the location. The pic on SJ has a different cap installed.
