Westinghouse LED TV 32 inch WD32FC2240

    Hi there,
This smart tv, Westinghouse 32" power up and stuck with "W" logo. The tv buttons and remote will not respond... for turning off it has to be unplug.
So unplug it for 24 hrs. nothing same result.
Google this type of defect just find out similar problem with Vizio and LG tvs...basically the EEPROM chip is corrupt or the main processor require reflow for a better connection with the mainboard. OK remove the back cover and tried to find out any bad components ...nothing ...everything looks fine... info from the main board, close to the processor there is "ST6308RTU-AP1" printed. This generic part number seems to be used in different tv as Element and Seiki... Regardless, Westinghouse website is useless for firmware upgrades or technical support. Any suggestions?

Have you done a factory restart. Some of the Westinghouse firmware up grades do not work as they have moved them. The 26" Westinghouse I worked on I has able to get them to send me a email with the site that had the upgrade. It did not make a difference in the TV I work on, but it had another problem then yours. I would also check any place connectors are soldered as the solder may be there but not making contact.
This is a from a different post of the firmware link. I do not know if this is the one you are looking for.

This is the link for the upgrade to firmware of Westinghouse LD-2655VX the upgrade version is V.1 http://1drv.ms/1zXMDlI

Instruction on how to upgrade the tv can be found on Westinghouse site under support for TV's LED up to 28"

      Hi Keeney,
Thanks for your reply...I tried to reset the tv by unplug the mains and while pressing power button plug it back...no change!
I did check all the connector from mainboard...nothing loose!
In order to do a firmare upgrade, the tv has to boot and pass the W logo screen, go to the meniu and select "upgrade firmware...

Some TVs have a combination of buttons to push to reset the TV. You can also go out on BudM's site on TV repair as he may have come across this problem before.

If you suspect the eeprom, try heating it up with a hairdryer to see if it makes any difference.

            Hi Jetadm,
Usually the EEPROM chip is 8 pin (small) IC, but I could not find any...so I guess the Toshiba TH58NVG2S3 (CMOS NAND EEPROM) TSOP-48 is the one I have to reflow (see attached photo). Thanks!

Helo, i have the same problem, TV model Westinghouse WD32HW2490, the board is the same, ST6308RTU-AP1, so the problem is in the eeprom, i read that is possible to erase it by shortcircuit two pins, my question is, were is the eeprom memory located in this board?
                Thanks
