Re: Sony KDL-46X4500 - 6 LED Blink Code
Looking at the service manual for the 46'', this TV uses RED, BLUE, and GREEN LEDs for Lights source, not the typical WHITE LEDs.
This is not going to be easy troubleshooting.
I will not do the panel tear down yet.
Thed LED board may look something like this.

RGB Dynamic LED
BRAVIA X Series can display the widest range of colours through the use of RGB LED backlighting which has a unique arrangement of red, blue and green LEDs.

Correct board but as you said, we are for some reason unable to get the website for shopjimmy here in the UK?
So do I take a chance and tear down the panel or go for a new board?Leave a comment:

P/N for the LED driver is: 1-877-581-11.
A1553199A.
I've only disconnected the lower connector that enters into the rear panel which I presume goes to the LEDs?Leave a comment:

Sounds like you have to tear the panel down. Bad LEDs?Leave a comment:

Re: Sony KDL-46X4500 - 6 LED Blink Code
It uses LEDs for backlights with that big LED driver board on the left side, I have never seen LED driver board that big before, so basically you have disconnected the LED backlights from the driver board and the 6-BLINK code went away.
I need to do some research about this model. I will download the service manual to see what kind of info it has for this TV:
Can you read the P/N of that LED driver board?Last edited by budm; 02-29-2016, 12:02 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Sony KDL-46X4500 - 6 LED Blink Code
3.38V on the BLon pin both when TV on and standby, bearing in mind I still have the 1k resistor connected so I'm probing the empty cavity from where I removed the wire. I have done the flash light on the screen but unable to see a image?
I was thinking the same thing about the CCFLs so was trying to find some kind of inverter board?Leave a comment:

Re: Sony KDL-46X4500 - 6 LED Blink Code
Disconnected lower wiring connector which I presume operates the backlights?
The top wiring connector, just above the heat sink is still connected.
The TV will now stay on with green LED light showing and the center SONY logo on the front panel remains lit. The TV is able to turn on/off either by using the remote or TV switch, it doe's not enter blink mode but still no picture or sound?
Not sure if I should now remove the 1K resistor and then try again?Leave a comment:

Re: Sony KDL-46X4500 - 6 LED Blink Code
Can I see the pictures of the whole back side of the unit that will show how all the boards are connected together?
My mistake to think that this model uses CCFL, it uses LED backlights so it does not have HV Inverter circuits.Last edited by budm; 02-29-2016, 10:21 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Sony KDL-46X4500 - 6 LED Blink Code
I have disconnected the lower connector that I presume operates the backlights? The top connector that I also presume is for the backlights, is still connected. The TV now stays on with green LED showing and doe's not enter blink mode. I'm now able to turn the TV on or off using both the remote and the TV switch but there is still no picture or sound?Leave a comment:

What do you get on the BLon pin when it is unhooked from the PSU? Ever shined a good flashlight into the screen to see if there is any life on the LCD?Leave a comment:

Backlights do not come on during this time, have never seen any backlights, no sound or image, only the SONY logo and a few icons on the front lower panel.Leave a comment:

Re: Sony KDL-46X4500 - 6 LED Blink Code
Almost, just tried it again.
Power cable connected to wall outlet and TV, switch on wall outlet (00.00V) turn on TV with panel switch, green LED shows on front panel, approx. 6 seconds later with green LED light still on, the voltage drops to 00.00V. It does this just before the TV enters blink code?
Have never seen the backlights work, also no sound or picture?Last edited by AlbertRoss; 02-29-2016, 05:55 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Sony KDL-46X4500 - 6 LED Blink Code
When the TV is on with a green LED, you have 0V on the INV_ERR pin.
But then there is a short blip to 3.08V and the main board goes to blinking? No backlights for 2 seconds or something?Leave a comment:

Re: Sony KDL-46X4500 - 6 LED Blink Code
I have now checked all voltages again because before I had 00.00V on INV_ERR. With TV on (green LED) I have 00.00V, just a split second before TV goes in to blink mode I get a voltage of 03.08V but then drops to 00.00V?Leave a comment:

Re: Sony KDL-46X4500 - 6 LED Blink Code
BLon sitting at 1V isn't enough to turn the backlights on. I should have more than 2V.
So you may have to do following:
Unplug TV. Remove the BLon pin out of the plug that comes from the main board back to the power supply (we dont want to feed back power). Next solder a 1k resistor from STB to BLon on the powe supply. Plug the TV back in and turn it on and check those voltages again.Leave a comment:

by clooI recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.
So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...01-06-2025, 06:02 AM -
by reporter1979Hi all, the TV KDL-40W2000 was flashed by a lightning.
Firstly I got the 3 red blink code.
Following other threads I changed the power supply board and got always 3 blinks.
So I changed also the mainboard and now I get 2 blinks error code. Tried also with the other ps board, still getting 2 blinks.
The TV turns on for a minute or two with green led and blank screen, if I press buttons the green led blinks fast. It turns to 2 red blinking led after a while.
What else can I do?... -

Hi,
I have this set. It turns on and is watchable for a few minutes but then shuts off and flashes 4 red lights.
I don't work on Sony much but assumed it was backlights from what I read.
Opened up the TV and tested all the backlights with led tester and the all work.
I know sometimes that doesn't mean anything since it's not running at full current but I hate to spend $120 on backlights (shopjimmy) is the only one that even has them just to find out I missed something.
So anyway to test these lights similar to the way we test... -
by rmacintoshI aquired this Panasonic 60" plasma around the time my first child was born. It was meant to be a project tv, hoping to fix it chipping away at the repair in my free time. Well that was 2 years ago and i'm really just getting around to making a sincere effort to see if I can ressurect this beast.
The symptoms of the tv ar as follows:- Plug AC in to back of TV
- After about 2 seconds the relay on the P-sub board will click on and then a fraction of a second later it clicks back off
- The 3 blink code is given by the power LED
- If the TV is unplugged and then
