    Panasonic TH-P50X60b Seven Blink.

    I have this 50" 720p Late series Panasonic set having a 7 blink error/SOS...

No apparent shorts on SN or on the combined PSU SS board VSUS (Vs) comes up for a second then dies slowly down...

Cant seem to find much in the way of service info either. Any ideas?

    Are Vscan and -Vad OK?

Being combined I guess you may have to locate Vfg and check the buffer ICs.

There's no VAD. looks like there's no test-point for VSCN either...

Traced fault to short buffer-chip, removed it--set works all bar that portion of screen and with corrupted image below. It was the third up from bottom thats kacked it....

Panasonic use some weird hard black crap to fix the chips to the board--Not sure how to remove. Ive cut the legs off and cleaned up the traces, but the chip is still on the board. I'll try hot-air to remove it....

Got most of the black crap off by finger-nail, and yes--I did break one Haha....

Where's our pictures? The the black crap harder than the grey crap they use?

I found acetone reacts with the grey crap and halps it th crubmle or brak away. Won't dissolve it.

I've removed a few now and I use an old bread packet clip and keep working acetone in to remove as much of the grey crap. I then keep scrubbing with an old toothbrush with acetone.

Also tried acetone free nail polish remover , seems to work not as agressive as the acetone though.

Once I'm happy with that, I get a sharp hobby blade and carefully cut the legs hard against the casing. Once thatey are free, more acetone , even from under the board and under the chip. Grab the chip body and rotate to break the hold of the grey crap.

Then I use an iron to desolder the legs, being very careful none of the grey crap is going to rip a soldered pin in the process as the pads tear real easy.

Flocko has done plenty of SN boards including the buffers from what I've read.

He'd have some good tips I'm sure.

Good method, I had a fail of one of them with that black goo I normally just remove any glue then hot air the Ic off but the Panny I had (TX-P50G10B) had that stuff and thought I removed it but lost a few pads in the end But I was able to repair them afterwards with a small solid copper wire its was a nightmare.

i tried hot air last night on a ST30 board, got no where. At some point I'm going to have a crack at these. I have 4 of these boards all with just 1 blown IC and at over $60 / board if you can get them. I think it's worth it.

So what are you using to cover the pins on these? Flocko's using ultra grey auto gasket sealant, what's your tip?

                Re: Panasonic TH-P50X60b Seven Blink.

I use hot glue lol, it isnt conductive and I havnt seen any type of interference on the ones I replaced. I then afterwards apply thermal plaster which is silicon based and put a small heatsink on all the Ic's to help them cool.

Yes people say hotglue can be slightly conductive and on an analog circuit like this can cause issues but Ive not seen anything yet and the first one I dud has been sold over 3 months now and no issues out of the Tv.

                  Re: Panasonic TH-P50X60b Seven Blink.

For insulating Buffers, Ive used a product called, Ulti-Meg. Its a thick sticky fast drying varnish motor Rebuilders use, good for EHT and High Temps.

First set I used this on was done 2 years ago and sold to neighbour. It was a clone of a 50Q97 chassis under Pangoo name--I did Not fit heatsinks to it, and he has habit of leaving set on 24/7.......

So--The Black Crap is what holds the chip to the board?--ie, Not Soldered from underneath...?

I dont think they are soldered with a pad under them as the one I did had two chips directly ontop of each other on the sides of the board.

Ignore that they do have a pad under them for the input guess Panny just wanted them to be extra secure.

Not sure if hey're soldered in but the 2010/11 chips are not. Just has that thermal silicone under it which sticks them in place.

Just seen my name come up in this post . Alastair I think was only trying to remove the the IC so he could test the set?I do not think he intends to replace it why would he if a s/h board was under £10, and the IC even from China cost me about £3.00 each I have found to remover the back/grey silicone sealant the best way i have found is to pick of as much as you can. Then use a wait for it? a silicone sealer remover the one made by BAUFIX have tried lots of makes this is one of the best. do not leave it on to long as it is corrosive and board needs to be cleaned well after use, cutting the buffer legs is the best way to remover the ICs.I have posted all this before aswell as the sealers i use Flocko

F1 will be off and running soon, testing next week, you got your ticket ? one year I would like to come over but for now I will be watched on the box

No, Just checked the dates out and I'm in Melbourne at that time too.Time to chat the Mrs up. Never been to a live race.

Move is great, have a garage loaded with pannys but a bit pissed having to wait forever for parts. Got a GT30 I'm dying to get running and swap with the V20. TV is so thin there's no room with the panel and ribbons.

Just some photos showing after a 5min with the silicone remover and a clean you are ready to cut the pins and remove the ICs , I do not use hot air just low melt solder that I get of ebay for about £7.00 for 1m that lasts forever.and for sealing up when the new IC is fitted I use Permatex ultra grey made in the US and was recommended to me by a Panasonic repairer tech. hope this is of some help to you
