Pana TX-P42G20B int. no power up / 13 red blinks

I have one of these nice 42" 1080p Panasonic sets in for repair.

Originally went to pick it up, asked the guy to plug it in and it worked! Hahaha! He did not want to sell it, but it was eBay... Couldn't believe my luck but it then shut down a few minutes later and wouldn't power on. So... not that easy, unfortunately.

Normally, powers on with no picture, no panel prime, green light only. Have occasionally seen it power on with brief panel prime then that goes away. Sometimes after being powered on with the green light for 5-10 minutes it'll shut down with a red 13 SOS. Haven't had a chance to check the SOS history as I haven't had it power on since picking it up.

I'm leaning towards the main board as all power rails from PSU are good (including Vsus & Vda), plus I don't see any control signals coming out of the main board. Any tips?

That'll probably be poor soldering on the mainboard bga chip.

It's all wrapped up with the Sound supply and the video processing...

That's my current train of thought but I'm hoping it's something else first, like a bad/intermittent voltage regulator.

Going to be A-board Tom I feel. The U20 I had, had issues similar to that. Even with heatsinks these run crazy hot. What's board availability like?

I've had a th-42pz80u on Craigslist for a few weeks now for $150 and no interest.
Some guy offered me $100. For a 1080p plasma!
            I have a th-42pe7 with 12 blinking sound SOS that I got for a 12 pack. A main board is $100.
            Not worth it. And it's a 720p.
Could someone with limited soldering skills repair the mainboard?
If this is what is considered thread jacking forgive me. I'm new.
Yeah, I think you just hijacked why not start a whole new thread and we can go bezerk on the topic there

Sorry. I didn't think it was worth the thread seeing as how the TV isn't worth anything.

I bought the TV for about £35 / $50 and can sell them for £150 / $220 working so it's worth it, but only if a main board isn't too expensive.

The U30 should have a good pic. I'm gradually changing over.

The picture quality of the U30B is better than my Kuro, with exception of the black level. But even the black level is pretty dark, at least 4x darker than an LCD...not to mention the excellent motion response, colour, and overall image quality.

It does get IR fairly quick, but no burn in.

Not sure how much it matters when doing marathon runs of "Rick and Morty" though.

Did you sort this Tom ? The main processors that seem to also integrate the Tcon get VERY hot enough to hurt your finger if you put it on them for a little while. Poor design really needs to be fan cooled or a big heatsink !
