    LN40A550P3F - help resurrect?

I was given this Samsung LN40A550P3F tv. I was told it had multiple problems before it "died". Sometimes not responding to power. Getting vertical colored lines in picture. Sound going in and out. I opened it up and could see visible scorch marks on IC1203 on main board BN41-00975B. I haven't been able to locate the schematics yet for the power supply or main board. I disconnected the boards and connected the power and the power supply has a high pitched whine coming from it, so I disconnected it. It is model BN44-00197A. budm helped me resurrect another tv in this series which my daughter really appreciates! Following on that advice I have already replaced c102 on the main board.

I wasn't sure where to start with the power supply...is it ok to keep plugged in with that whine and still take readings? Can someone guide me on troubleshooting the power supply and identifying what parts needs replacing on the main board? As I previously stated I already replaced c102 on the main board. I've seen this link from shopjimmy, but can I purchase the components separately and for less? I've uploaded pictures of the two boards. I'm ready and willing to take my time testing and learning; provide additional photos/information as needed; and solder anything necessary. Thank you so much!

Looks like D204 is scorched on the main board as well. I located the parts list and perusing now.

That would totally explain the audio issues. I found it for $7.00 on ebay. Anywhere to find it cheaper? Now trying to identify D204 and IC101.

But then there's still the problem of the power supply. Any suggestions on testing it? My concern was the high pitched whine coming from it when it was plugged in.

Sorry folks been away for a while as my spouse had brain surgery. Consider this one closed as I finally got around to removing the IC and one of the inductors and I don't want to go as far as repairing the pads. They were scorched in three spots on the IC and came out. Same thing with the inductor. So I'm just going to sell the board as is for someone else who is well versed in repairing down to that level.

Thank you Andrew. She is doing well now. Missing hair and large scar but no cancer and improving daily!
