Panasonic Plasma has 7 sos flashes and went pop

hi all, ive been looking around here and think this is the place to be for the vast amounts of knowledge kindly available.

i own a panasonic plasma tx p50st31b bought at least four years ago with a date stamp of 03/2011 inside the rear panel.

it has been very reliable uptill now :-(

im currently getting 7 red flashes off the sos. i disconnected the two connectors for the sc panel and i was presented with 8 red flashes, i then re attached the two connectors to receive 7 flashes once more.

the tv died during using kodi via pc hdmi etc. ive allways used the side port for some reason. only thing slightly different was when i moved my computer the power lead to my pc became loose and reset my pc, obviously picture went from that source. i also inadvertantly cut the power to the tv without pressing standby if that could be anything to do with it.
all was well for an hour then a bang was heard and it went off. it was dark and dont remember doing it but i have also noticed an impact type crack on my lower rh side of the panel, directly behind the power connector fot the ac board. i moved it onto the table this morning upright and im always usually very careful with it.

can components breaking cause the screen to break or is this likely human error? its hard to say if the picture will be ok with the crack but when i disconnected the sc board i did think i noticed a small 2" square of light around where the crack impact area is.

im kean to try to repair it as its been a great telly with a cracking picture. but if the panel is likely to be defective then its just more £££'s

    any suggestions kindly received

If the panel itself has any cracks--Thats more or less it for the set, unless you can find a similar model with a blown SC board--But I suspect your SC may be buggered too....

New panel would be silly money, although have seen on occasion new panels on ebay.....

If a set is on when the panel is cracked, its most likely the buffers/SC will suffer too

thanks alastair, i still cant believe its cracked, came down this morning to take it all appart and noticed so it does kinda make it bin fodder, shame as chances of getting a panel cheap and remedying any other defects is unlikely i guess. can screens break themselves? i know it sounds ridiculous but ive always been careful

Yup--rare though it is, panels can just crack on their own.

            Guess this would fit--

            http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TV-Part-Sc...kAAOSw7FRWZWpY

What I dont like about it is the guy has taken the bottom address-boards off it and he says he took it ut of a fully working set...

Who breaks a set he could sell for maybe 200+ to sell its screen for less than a ton, the SC board for a bit less and have all the trouble of shipping the stuff.....

Well--The ebay listing has the Panel type Number in it, all you need to do is find what panel the 50G10 uses--see if its the same type.

G10 is a more basic model, but could use same basic chassis and PDP...

Are you sure you didn't bump into anything when you moved the tv to the table? I've never heard of a plasma that cracks on its own.

Its a shame , you can always sell the other boards. There is a way to test the buffer boards if they are ok. Hope you will find a similar tv/donor tv.

Samsungs have been known to crack on their own, prolly because the steel sheet behind was made ever (cheaper) thinner.....

Hmm ok but Panasonics are build very well. It will only crack when you bump the tv into a wall etc. ( in my opinion ) .

i was wearing a coat with wooden ties to fasten it, wonder if screens rested on one, all i can think of.
its a bit of a dilemma really, i know tv's arnt expensive second hand and could probable get a near identical tv for £250, which will be worn and could break anytime.
on the other hand ive still got alot of tv left in my panny so to speak, might be better replacing the screen next month if poss and maybe picking up some cheap replacement boards as a reserve.

                            by cloo
I recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.

So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
                            by Alicat
                            Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                            Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

                            by Lintesir
My parents' Panasonic P42S30 died recently, and they asked me to have a look at it. I was able to identify the SN-board as the culprit, as it was shorted. After removing Q401, Q402, Q421 and Q422 the short was gone, so I replaced these components and that got the TV working again. However, when testing the tv a bit, I noticed quite bad pinkish sparkles on some colors. For instance the greyish bar on this forum seems to trigger it quite badly. I made a fullscreen test picture with only that color, with the below result.

There is about a 5cm high region at the top without any sparkles,...

Hello, got a ST50 plasma TV for repair. No signs of life, not even blink codes. Opened it up to check the power supply, type MPF6914. Apparent issues from visual detection and measuring for shorts:
                            Diode type G972s6 - D101 with a short
                            Mosfet 06N90E - Q301 shorted
                            Fuse T5AH 250V - F103 blown
                            Diode D301 shorted
                            Relay DG1U-17VDC II - RL001 blown

I have not found a circuit diagram. Maybe someone here already dealt with a similar issue? Thanks for tips where else to check 😀...

PANASONIC TX-P42X10Y Plasma TV damaged after a power spike
                            by tofik
Hello, I have an PANASONIC TX-P42X10Y Plasma TV, purchased new in 2009.
Unfortunately plasma is not working at all after a power spike. Standby LED is not even working.

I did some quick tests, YSUS + ZSUS MOSFETS and IGBT's are free from shorts, diodes on these modules seems to also be fine, buffer board is free from shorts as well.

Anyway I focused mainly on the PSU, did some voltage tests with the results as below, I attached them on the photo (also please see attached PDF with the SERVICE MANUAL for this model, page number 43).

                            I understand...
