Every set that I've fixed had that chip go bad. Do a search for IC7003 or LD5973D there is a capacitor that may need to be replaced as well.

Many thanks Johnboy and BudM. I think I will take a shot at the IC7003 replacement (and the associated capacitor). At the price of the main boards available right now, this seems like the way to go.

I will also check the outputs of the IC to be sure that nothing is shorted...both boards look like they fried right between pin 7 and 8 as shown in many of those other posts I found in BudM's reply and a search I did of the forum.

I like the way you think Johnboy - I need to recoup a bit from this ordeal and it would be nice to sell a verified-working main board to help.

When you say heat gun - do you mean an industrial "hair drier" like is used for shrink wrap and such (I have one)? Is that to release the IC from the circuit board? I assume I do not need to seat the new one with heat as that would likely overheat the IC...?

I also saw a tip on another post from BudM to cut the legs off the IC first to make removal easier.

Nailed it! All is working now after replacing IC 7003 and capacitor 2002!

One of the two main boards I "fixed" did not have any standby after replacing the IC, so I need to go back and figure out what I messed up (because that's a change from low volts). I bought one extra IC and cap from digikey so I might just have to start the soldering over again.

The other board fired right up and I have picture and power lights again...it has been running for hours now.

Many thanks BudM and Johnboy1313 ...I could not have done this without you!

Acer Spin 1 SP111-33 Power-On Issue (Troubleshooting Assistance)
            by justice171
I am seeking guidance on an Acer Spin 1 SP111-33 that does not turn on when pressing the power button.

Below are the observations and troubleshooting steps I have taken so far: Observations and Tests:
            1. Verified that all critical voltages are present:
              • 3.3V and 5V are always present if DC is plugged.
              • 1.8V on the BIOS chip is present.
            2. Checked the power button functionality:
              • When pressed, the voltage drops to 0V, indicating the button is functional.
            3. Inspected the flex cable connecting the USB, audio, and power button to JUB1:
              • Confirmed connectivity is intact, ruling out issues

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
            by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

            >>> Troubleshooting Delta Power MAX 500ATX ATX power supply
            by dragon3x
Hi, this is for troubleshooting and, hopefully, repairing a Delta Power psu
that is still quite new, as it worked OK for some months until it failed.
At the time I was not into power supply electronics; it was put
aside and a new power supply installed inside the computer. Also at the time
power supplies were half the price of today's.

On the PCB there are a D339 and 7500B chips.

I have found that schematics with these 2 chips (see included file).
Does it represent the actual circuit of the MAX-500ATX, I cannot tell.

            Some measurements,...

PS5 EDM-033 One Beep,No Lights, No Power Troubleshooting Help
            by WVUfan
hello. i've a ps5 edm-033 mobo w/ no power, lights, but one beep when power pressed. i've hooked to uArt and only error code is 80871001 (DDR4 No Power or Short Circuit). i have a donor board, same model, that does power up, fan spins, blue light, and beeps 3 times, then powers off. it has a botched HDMI port replacement job. so w/ the board i'm interested in, with the error 80871001, i was able to research and obtain voltages of the SSD PMIC. i've attached pictures of the provided diagram by DylanBBK (@d62 on Discord) and my voltages and picture of my board. my question is on my picture...

Troubleshooting Old Chiefmax 650Watt ATX Switching Power Supply
            by Zippie
I’m looking for some advice troubleshooting an old Chiefmax 650w power supply in a PC, if it’s advisable to dig into it.

Worst case I can replace the PSU, I’m just interested in learning the troubleshooting process. However, it’s out of my area of expertise and I could use some direction.

During PC operation I heard a loud pop noise, like a cap gun and the tower lost power.

Initially there is no power output 3.3v, 5v, or 12v when jumping the power on pin to ground. Also, no fan power.

Opening the PSU the only things visible initially...
