Samsung 50 Inch Sound Ok No Screen

Here is what I have. Samsung PN50 A400C2d Plasma set. Plug it in and it will cycle and click over and over. Off/on button has no effect. Removed X board plug no change. Replaced X plug, Removed Y Board plug and Power Button and remote will power on the set with jingle and turn off the set also with jingle. Audio is there and the logic board has a heartbeat led.

Va and Vs are available at plug going to Y Sus. Va is 63 (panel 56) and VS is 230 (panel 208) I think these are high because Y sus is not connected.

So I am assuming I have a shorted YSus board or buffer board which are one and the same on this set.
I read elsewhere on the forum that in a similar case several FET's on the heat sinks were shorted so thought I would start there. No obvious cap problems.. or visible damage to board.

Am I on the right path?

does the panel prime, can you see any light at all on the screen when you try and start it in a darkened environment?

No light at all on panel. With the y sus board connected it just keeps cycling no jingle.
Disconnected it powers right up with jingle but no light either way.

I removed the board and checked for visible damage. Nothing seen. Then I put the board back in and only hooked up the power connector. Same result.. Power cycling.
My limited skills are now looking for a short.
Thought I found it with a 0022uf cap that read dead short in circuit.. but ok out.
        suggestions?

plug your y board in but unplug buffer board/s this will prove y board or buffer board/s

inspect buffer chips for holes or marks

thanks Comptek for your help. However in this case.. Buffer boards are built into the Y sustain. Did not find any shorts on the buffer test.. but still have not ruled it out.

Hamie.. I will try turning down Vs and Va. I have tried measuring with everything connected and I get nothing. Could be my cheapo meter is just too slow. Maybe if turned down.. it will stay on long enough to test.

How do I tell if the FET's are shorted ?

There are 13 FETs on the heat sinks. I show 500 ohms drain to source on two of them and direct short on five others. That just can't be right.

Ok small headway.. It seems the VS line is shorted to ground. Will trace it out tomorrow without the turkey blues and see what is killing it.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Samsung UN65js8500F, no sound, blank screen and T-Con board with one LED on
                    by mrtek
Hi I am new to this kind of repairs but I want to learn..I have a Samsung UN65JS8500F. the TV used to work and I tried to fix darker areas in the middle only ( img 1,2,3). I thought the led strip were bad..not the case. I did not research in advance what kind and where the LED were located. In this model they are located vertically on right and left side. Took the TV apart and put it back together. Now the tv shows no welcome screen and no sound is available thru the speakers. ..just a black screen..Backlight LED do turn on...also noticed a 5 blink code , not sure if that was there before. I can...

Upgrading a Samsung ue55nu7096u with logic board from an ue55ru7105k -- good idea?
                    by ohren
I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.

I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.

The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively....

                    Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
                    by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

Samsung TU8000, backlight and sound on, stuck in blue screen
                    by mar1in
                    Hi everyone,

I've got this Samsung here that would be stuck in a boot loop.
After opening up and doing the tape block method, I was able to get it to turn on and play sound from the HDMI input, but with a blue screen.

Does that mean there is another combination of pins that I need to block in order to get a picture, or is there something more serious, faulty mainboard or faulty panel?

                    Thanks in advance
