    Vizio screen issue Opinion

Vizio E550i-A0 About half way down to the bottom I get horizontal lines and it blurs or doubles/ghosts (see pic) I would say if it were vertical lines TCON but this has no TCON so just asking for opinions if it was thought this was in the screen or if a main board would fix it?

Thats definitely a defective panel I seen this problem before. Take a can of freeze spray and with the metal frame pulled away from the panel and spray the very edges of the panel on the left and the right side. See if the problem starts to disappear. You may get away with doing this without removing the metal bezel but give it a shot anyways.

Ok. I'll need to go buy some and report my findings.

I put freeze spray on it and did not make much difference. I watched it for a while before putting it on and noticed that the lower half of the screen would stop for a couple seconds before catching up to the top half. Are you sure this would be a bad panel as I hate to scrap a 55" smart TV.

It does look like a bad panel. You could carefully take the edges of the TV and twist back and forth slightly to see if anything changes. It could be a tab bonding problem. Also there's a slight possibility that it could be a tcon board but I doubt it. You could try to remove the ribbon cables and reconnect them to see if you have a bad connection between the tcon and panel

No TCON it's all on the main. I tried pushing and touching around and on the ribbon cables and did not seem to make a difference. did remove and reconnect cables at both ends. It did not change color or brightness before it caught up. I have run in to this before but with verticle lines never horizontal. I could get a usded main for $40 from flebay and that would tell me for sure but then I would be out $40 oh, I also tried a heat gun and did not get worse.

Who makes the panel? Any model numbers on the panel itself or the metal frame?

No clue. Not a full metal frame on this one just 1 metal strip along the bottom with no numbers or anything. I ordered a main board to try. I will post my results when it comes. Thanks freakaftr8

I wish you luck. Is the main board doesn't fix it there are alternative measures. I'll tell you about them later. I can't tell from the pictures but is the same horizontal line there where everything else freezes in the same spot all the time?

Yep sounds like a panel fault. Have you tried the 1 ribbon cable connected to the panel at a time trick?

Panel issue confirmed. Tried another main and same issue. Another one for the scrap pile. Thanks for the help!
