    Re: Vizio VP50 HDTV20A

Alright back from New Jersey and ready to continue troubleshooting.. I lifted one end of the fuse in question and it is in fact open. Question at this point is do I attemtp to troubleshoot this down to the component or is it safe to replace the board?

The board is a Samsung Model No 50"HD W2 x-Main(2L) I'll standby for further direction..

Thanks and of course Happy Thanksgiving

Reposting last post.. Thinking it may not be seen.. After returning from New Jersey I tested the fuse F4702 and it is open. This fuse is on the X-main board.. Does this indicate a bad X-main board or do we continue to troubleshoot to the component level?

Thanks and have a nice holiday!

all I could suggest is check all the FETs for short cct, replace the fuse. Or just get an xmain, should be plenty around as they don't fail anywhere near as much as the Y side.

I've seen these going again after just after a pico fuse replacement on this forum.

Thanks for the suggestion tw2005 -- I just ordered some pico fuses from Amazon that will be her Friday.. I'll start by first just replacing the fuse.. that would be awesome if that fixes it. It the doesn't work I'll start looking for a x-main board. There are multiple numbers on the board.. Model PBA number and a PCB number.. do all these numbers need to match the replacement part?

Update: Replaced the Pico fuse and it did not blow..however the picture is still not quite what it should be. There continue to be black streaks running horizontally across the lower section of the screen.. mostly toward the middle of the picture. Seems to lack a crispness in the picture.. when the brightness is turned up the picture turns almost completely white.. really washed out. I'm assuming given the fuse that blew was on the X-Main board that's the board I should attempt to replace.. am I correct?

yeah , well if that did nothing are you sure all the others are ok and reading short across the fuse if you do a continuity check?

Otherwise I'd just get a new board just compare the revisions and numbers, appearance. Going by the fuse holder it's looking like

              BN96-06518A (LJ92-01398A)
              Philips 996500044496
              Vizio 0940-0000-3490

They're only around the $20 so not worth stuffing around much more

Thanks to everyones help this T.V. is now working again.. I think it's possible the Pico fuse may have been all I needed, but to play it safe I also replaced the X-Main board. I did learn that if you do not properly seat the small ribbon cable in the lower lefthand corner of the board the symtom is exactly what I was seeing. When I installed the new board at first it appeared to have the same issue.. then after reseating the small ribbon cable everything was perfect. I did not bother to retry the old board given at one time it had one open Pico fuse.. I'll set aside for use perhaps in the future... Thanks again everyone

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                  Assuming...

                  Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel

                  Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                  Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware
                  by howardc64
Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....
