    Sony Bravia KDL-40EX403 switch-on/off problem

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40EX403 with a switch-on/off problem. It started by rapidly and eratically switching the picture on & off, then the whole TV on & off & on etc.
In it's current state it is an intermittent fault as follows:-
From cold & switched off: At switch on sometimes the picture and audio start up normally but only for about 20 seconds. After which either the ‘standby' or ‘on' light come on or both are off. Either way there is no picture or sound. Sometimes the ‘power on' button will bring the ‘standby' light on and then the ‘on' light, but never any picture or sound.
I have no circuit diagrams so quite lost what to check. All I've managed to do is confirm that the 12 volt power disappears from the connector (CN6403) at the top of the PSU board. The PSU board is identified as APS-254, G2HE, 4-168-556-21 on the label (1-881-411-21 on the board!).
The Main board (BAL) is 1-881-636-21.

    Help!!

I would check the DCV of the Standby Voltages and the PS-ON signals to see if they are stable or cycling up and down. Check and reseat the cables and board mounting screws.

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-40EX403 switch-on/off problem

Thanks for quick response. I have tried the connector reseats & mounting screws, but no change. TV won't go off at the moment - Sod's law - It's been in the garage all night and it's cold in there. I don't know if that's masking a overheating problem.
However I'm having difficulty finding relevant voltage monitoring points on the board (only have the board markings to go off and can't see any 5V markings). Can I use the chassis for the return or do I have to find the associated return?

When making measurement in the secondary side (cold side) you can use chassis for the meter Black probe.
How about up loading the good clear pictures of the power supply board, and the closed up pictures of the connectors so we can see the pin labels?

OK. A few photos, general and connector close ups.

                    by Chrissygizmo
                    Hello again everyone,

This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…

I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried...

Sony HCD-HX80R Amplifier Volume Control Problem
                    by crackedprint
I have a strange fault on a Sony amplifier. The volume control varies the display from MIN, then 1 up to 30 and then MAX as expected. At MIN there is no sound. However, at 1 it is quite loud and increasing above 1 does not change the sound level.

I have tried a Cold Reset as per the service manual.

I have looked at the I2C clock and data to volume control chip IC501 (BD3499FV). Data is only sent to IC501 when the volume is set to MIN or 1. At any other setting no data is sent to IC501.

I have looked all the way through the service manual and tried many online...

Sony bravia kdl-43w755c - boot loop
                    by justin35
                    Hello,
i have this sony bravia kdl-43w755c which boot loops. After sony logo, it shows the android animation loading then it restarts…
from what i read online it looks to be an emmc issue…
i’m not familiar with this kind of tv repairs… i’m repairing laptops and gpu’s…
i took out the board and say an samsung 16gb emmc
                    i don’t have an exact replacement, but i have a few 32 and 64gb emms’s from laptops…
i could try to put one instead of the 16gb one, but will it work?
where do i get the software from?
any help will be much appreciated!...

Hello gurus, hope you can assist me...

I have a Sony KDL.40P3600, with an issue on the left side of the screen (pictures attached).

I think the problem is the panel, but before send it to trash, i would like to get a second opinion.

                    Thanks in advance.
