    Sony Bravia KDL-40EX403 switch-on/off problem

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40EX403 with a switch-on/off problem. It started by rapidly and eratically switching the picture on & off, then the whole TV on & off & on etc.
In it's current state it is an intermittent fault as follows:-
From cold & switched off: At switch on sometimes the picture and audio start up normally but only for about 20 seconds. After which either the ‘standby' or ‘on' light come on or both are off. Either way there is no picture or sound. Sometimes the ‘power on' button will bring the ‘standby' light on and then the ‘on' light, but never any picture or sound.
I have no circuit diagrams so quite lost what to check. All I've managed to do is confirm that the 12 volt power disappears from the connector (CN6403) at the top of the PSU board. The PSU board is identified as APS-254, G2HE, 4-168-556-21 on the label (1-881-411-21 on the board!).
The Main board (BAL) is 1-881-636-21.

    Help!!

I would check the DCV of the Standby Voltages and the PS-ON signals to see if they are stable or cycling up and down. Check and reseat the cables and board mounting screws.

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-40EX403 switch-on/off problem

Thanks for quick response. I have tried the connector reseats & mounting screws, but no change. TV won't go off at the moment - Sod's law - It's been in the garage all night and it's cold in there. I don't know if that's masking a overheating problem.
However I'm having difficulty finding relevant voltage monitoring points on the board (only have the board markings to go off and can't see any 5V markings). Can I use the chassis for the return or do I have to find the associated return?

When making measurement in the secondary side (cold side) you can use chassis for the meter Black probe.
How about up loading the good clear pictures of the power supply board, and the closed up pictures of the connectors so we can see the pin labels?

OK. A few photos, general and connector close ups.

Strange problem with Sony XBR-85X850G 85" LED tv
                    by mitsu2k
I am working on a Sony XBR-85X850G tv and I am puzzled as to what could be wrong with it. My friend took it to a repair shop where the shop stated they had replaced the Main Board and T-CON board but the problem remained unchanged. The repair shop said they felt that the panel was bad. I am not sure the panel is bad. I could be wrong but most bad panels I have seen the vertical lines remain fixed. However the vertical lines here move around and take on various colors and patterns, width, etc. Also, the display aspect ratio almost seems that it has shrunk to 4:3 as I can see black borders on the...

advices for repairing Sony Bravia 32EX600 after lightning strike
                    by pbig
                    hi everyone,
my parents in law have seen their Bravia Sony LED 32EX600 TV set stop after a lightning strike. After being plugged to mains, it shows nothing no power LED on bottom left shines.
On the power PCB (GE3b, attached pic), I chacked the fuses and the only roasted one is R6536 : 0.47 ohms, 1/2W. After replacing it, I made some voltage measurement with ref to the chassis :
                    - the 450V/150uF capacitor voltage when plugged is normal at 394V
                    - from connector CN6150 (15 poles)
STBY normal 3.3V -> I shunted it to 3 (POWER ON) and 11 (BL ON) and unplugged...

                    Problem with sony dav-dz830w
                    by fsdecosat
Hello, I have a sony dav-dz830w home cinema, which does not start, I have disassembled it and I have removed the model 07dav-power-13-mp power supply.
I don't have much knowledge of electronics, but I started by checking the fuse and the transformers, and they gave me the correct values.
Later I checked the voltages with the power board outside the unit, I got the schematic in addition to the board to be able to check the problem.
When reviewing the voltages of the different connectors, I obtained the following values in the CN906, which I think is the one that starts the...
