TV Remote control causes volume control to turn to full loudness

I have an Auriga LCD TV which is a bit unusual.

Whenever I use the TV Remote to turn up the volume (or turn down the volume), the volume automatically goes to full loudness or turns completely off. I thought it might be the remote transmitting too many signals, but even if I just press the vol+ button quickly and then put my thumb over the infrared diode, it still happens. Also happens to the prog+ and prog-. Anyone has any suggestions of diagnosing (or even remedying this?)

The volume and prog control on the TV works prefectly ie. it will increment once everytime the button is pressed.

Most if not all remotes are based on the infamous chiclet keyboard (a rubber keyboard with rubber/iron contacts): these contacts are prone to dirt the remote board and fake signals, so open the remote and clean both keyboard and board contacts with alcohol - isopropyl one is better but etilic one is good enough.
If cleaning doesn't solve your problem, check for almost-dead batteries or bad capacitors (remotes should have one or two caps).

I was going to say that "sticky" inner remote control buttons could be the problem , clean and retry. But - what you really need to do is to check the tiny button mounts for looseness as well. Each button sends a signal to the tv , but if it gets interupted and is incomplete , the last send is repeated , especially when you have a loose button connector on the remote board. That would explain why you keep getting "sound" changes on unrelated buttons. The condition can also be the same regarding any loose wire or anything on the small inner PCB board.

That's why dropping a remote can cause trouble , and eating around the remote is a no no.

Sony HCD-HX80R Amplifier Volume Control Problem
        by crackedprint
I have a strange fault on a Sony amplifier. The volume control varies the display from MIN, then 1 up to 30 and then MAX as expected. At MIN there is no sound. However, at 1 it is quite loud and increasing above 1 does not change the sound level.

I have tried a Cold Reset as per the service manual.

I have looked at the I2C clock and data to volume control chip IC501 (BD3499FV). Data is only sent to IC501 when the volume is set to MIN or 1. At any other setting no data is sent to IC501.

I have looked all the way through the service manual and tried many online...

Sansui Integrated Amplifier replacement volume control troubles
        by Coert van Dorsten
Hi all you clever electronmic gooroos!

I was wondering if you could help me with the below issues Im having on a Sansui Integrated amplifier. I bought this unit as a project to repair as Im playing around with basic electromics. The unit has a faulty volume control pot. The service maual refers to a 150K Logarithmic pot (A) tapered stereo. Im struggling to find this value. Seem to be a jump from 100K to 250K. Im now trying a 250K pot. It works but the problem is that as the volume is turned up from starting at Min the Left channel will come on first just slightly before the Right...

Old Privileg 5.1 speakers remote control question
        by piipo
Hi, I have an old Privileg brand 5.1 speakers. I have lost the remote control. I have an universal Harmony remote but there is no Privileg brand in it's software to add. Does anybody have an idea what alternative brand for a remote can I try instead? I'm attaching an image of what the speakers looks like. The image shows 2 main speakers, they are 5 + 1 in total. Thank you very much

Schematic for Denon Remote Control RC1156
        by hemant_2222
        Hello Everyone,

Hope everyone is enjoying their repairs at hand!.

I am looking forward to get the schematic of Denon remote control RC1156. Actually long time no use of the remote leaked the battery thereby corroding few parts as well as the tracks.

I was able to join few of them but the remote is still not working, so i am looking forward for your help, in case anyone understand the schematic or the remote circuit diagram and could me assist me in repairing it.

Please refer to the attached picture, i think the voltage divider is missing...

        Volume potentiometer loudness tap bypass?
        by Xenon-Codex
I salvaged a Sony TA-F170 with broken volume potentiometer. It has a special pot with a loudness tap in the middle, of course not available anymore.
Is the loudness somehow possible to get to work, at least constant instead of variable? I have a regular potentiometer which works, but the loudness does not.
