Insignia NS-50P650A11 Sparkles VA won't adjust

Hello. Have another TV that was saved from my local recycling center. When turned on, it has sparkles on the entire screen over the picture. The VS panel voltage is 206 and that is what I get at the TP. The VA voltage is supposed to be 55 but it will only go between 33-37. I jumped the control board after unhooking the LVDS and I get the test patterns and the sparkles remain. I'm guessing the Y-Main is bad? The TV uses Samsung parts. Thanks for your help.

VSC jumps anywhere between 218 and 232 (supposed to be 180)
For the life of me can't find a TP for VY.

VSC should be as written on sticker--and defo shouldn't jump around...

-Vy test-point is often across resistor near the buffer-board connectors.

Cant see it either in yer pic--Maybe they are just using VSC as a measurement ref, then -Vy will be right too--seeing they both come from same DC-DC converter.

Clean and re-set that Set-VSC pot to the correct voltage.--See what happens...

Yeah, VSC shows 180 on the sticker but it won't stay steady.

I still can't find VY. I went over the service manual and it lists VS, VA, VCC, VDD, and VE but no VY test point.

Tried adjusting VSC and it still just randomly jumps around. Cant get it at 180.

                Hmm--Try a new pot...?

--Check the diodes and caps on that DC/DC converter? Summit odd going on round there. Should set up nice and smooth/easy, with pot around its centre position, with correct VSC.

There's a Opto-coupler feedback loop to the controller IC that runs that DC/DC converter, try checking the voltages on/around there--poss the opto is stuffed or the controller chip Caps and diodes first I would check...

On one Samsung--cant remember which, There's a diode rec 1N4007 off that DC/DC converter that goes short--but that usually results in nothing at all on the screen....

Wrong VSC would definitely affect the operation of the panel--prob give the Mal-Discharge you have, and doesn't need to be a wildly out voltage either....

Ok, I tested with my meter and could not find any shorts. I unhooked the YSUS and checked VA several times and it still won't go above 37 even with the Y main unhooked. I went ahead and took out the Y, X and buffer and found no shorts on those.

Interesting - first time I've seen a plasma with low Va. Similar maldischarge effects to Vs.
BTW since this is a Samsung panel it does not have -Vy only Vsc and Vsch (which is confusingly Vsc on LG panels.)

Panasonic P42S30 Plasma - Pink sparkles
                        by Lintesir
My parents' Panasonic P42S30 died recently, and they asked me to have a look at it. I was able to identify the SN-board as the culprit, as it was shorted. After removing Q401, Q402, Q421 and Q422 the short was gone, so I replaced these components and that got the TV working again. However, when testing the tv a bit, I noticed quite bad pinkish sparkles on some colors. For instance the greyish bar on this forum seems to trigger it quite badly. I made a fullscreen test picture with only that color, with the below result.

There is about a 5cm high region at the top without any sparkles,...

Insignia NS-LCD019-09 issue: Power light turns blue for 3 seconds, the flashes red before going solid read again
                        by cajoeg
Hello, I'm new to the group and to trying to repair a LCD TV. During the past few years, I've been collecting/repairing/restoring vintage personal computers (Commodore, Apple II, Atari, TRS-80, Texas Instruments, and Timex Sinclair). This has been my retirement hobby. Now I've gotten interested in trying to repair a LCD TV that I have and used regularly when working on vintage computers.

The LCD I'm working on is a Insignia NS-LCD019. I've downloaded the service manual that I could find, but it must be a different revision since not too many items in the service manual match the TV...

homemade speakers AN5277 How to adjust the volume?
                        by Mcfeetroy
Hello everyone. I soldered the speakers according to the circuit diagram on the AN5277 sound amplifier microcircuit. Everything works fine (I only added a ferrite ring to remove the sound transmission interference)
But I can't adjust the sound (there is no variable resistor or something similar for this in the circuit....Please tell me how I can adjust the sound? What needs to be added to the circuit?

Panasonic TC-59R62 Overscan issues. How to adjust?
                        by gre0013
Hello. I need help opening the service menu on a Panasonic TC-59R62
Its an old CRT with bad overscan. The top left of the screen is cut out and I need to adjust it. Ive tried multiple methods online ie, holding volume down on the TV then pressing recall (with the 30m timer as well). Nothing I have tried has been able to bring up the menu if there's one at all.
Or is there an adapter I could use to fix this? Trying to use the TV for old retro games but again the top left of the screen is cut out and cant see anything displayed there.

                        by mikkele86
                        Hello good people of badcaps.

                        im back with another question

Im trying adjust the current bias accordingly to the manual, but my meter is showing the same value no matter whatever position VR-804a/VR-804b is in.

DC bias is adjusted and is working as intended.

Is my settings on the multimeter wrong ? or should i look for a bad component

                        note: all transistor are new
