Re: Panasonic TC-P55ST30 SNAFU'ed, SC board blown, I think...
Got everything re-installed last night after testing the SC41, SC42 & SC46 connectors as well as the flexi-cables that attach to the SU/SD boards. Also did the isolation test with SC50 jumpered. Nothing seemed amiss, so I plugged it all in proper and gave it a go... SUCCESS!! TV came on and displayed properly, thanks to Terryfictv, tw2005 and flocko for your assistance. I remounted the heatsinks with thermal tape and silicone, as well as adding sinks to the other three transistors that did not have them. Time will tell if the repair holds, but seems to have been the fix for now. Testing the transistors on the bench showed three of them to be trashed. The diodes were good and the other three trans did not show shorted tab to pins 1 or 3. I'll keep them as spares for possible future use. Thanks again all!
Re: Panasonic TC-P55ST30 SNAFU'ed, SC board blown, I think...
Well, unfortunately the repair didn't hold. After a few more hours on the TV, there was a nice sharp pop last night, and back to solid red LED, or 14 blinks if you hold down the power button. I will tear it down again and see what's up. If its the SC board again or something else.
The diodes in the circuit that is blown should be replaced in case they were stress damaged. Also, did you change the mounting hardware and clean ground connects of black hi resistance junk ? ( use tool or scrape with razor blade ? ) Did you snug the mounting screws tight ? Did you confirm SS board has no shorted parts by test not by guess ?
Re: Panasonic TC-P55ST30 SNAFU'ed, SC board blown, I think...
Two diodes and 6 transistors were replaced, that is what was in the kit. Used new mounting hardware which had the lock-washers on them. I used a fiberglass pen brush to clean the ground contacts where the screws attached the board to the main chassis of the TV. The only thing done with SS board was to confirm that after SS11 was disconnected, that there was no direct short on that connector at the SS board.
