Seiki SE421TT LCD - powers on, but has no backlight

I'm working on this Seiki brand 42" LCD TV and it powers up, but doesn't light the backlight or anything. Any ideas as to where to start the troubleshooting process or what could be causing this issue in here?

You'll more than likely have an open led.
what voltages are there going to the leds?

What are the terminals labeled that usually feed leds?

For the backlights? It doesn't seem to be anything at all when I measure at the connectors by the top right corner of the power supply board.

Hard to tell, they're covered in some kind of pudding.

Well firstly check the blon voltage that goes to the led driver, can you take close up pics of all the boards please ?

I have taken pictures of the mainboard, T CON, and power supply. As for checking that voltage, where would I need to test to find that?

(badcaps.net attachment uploading is giving an error right now, pictures are hosted on TinyPic instead)

                  plan of action

Any updates on this? Should we try replacing the mainboard first and go from there?

                      stand by

I must've missed that thread in my initial search. I will check into this and report back.

                        Never stop learning.

Just to follow up on this, even though it has been a while, I don't think we were able to get this one going. The happy ending is that I think we were able to sell it on behalf of the owner and at least partly make up for the losses. Knowing what I now know about Led backlight repair from recent experience and what was shown in the other thread, I bet that is what the problem might've been though.

Don't stop believing - never stop learning.
