    Vizio E701i-A3

Sound, backlight, no picture. Replaced the Tcon and power board. After power board replaced, power led now stays on. Noticed when I removed board there were three mounting screws missing. Are these necessary for proper board grounding etc.? Still no picture. Noticed when 'input' or 'menu' button pressed, panel brightens a bit...any help?
Tcon board does NOT have any Z designation on it...think it has to be a particular board...?

Any way to verify panel is good?

    Re: Vizio E701i-A3

I saw this posted elsewhere; the led's themselves may be bad.
"So, specifically for you, if his panel is half lit, it's probably a bad LED string, and no problem with the panel. You should be able to swap panels (CAREFULLY!!!), and be good to go. Try to get a pic of his screen in the ON state. If there is a straight line down the middle, and half works and half doesn't, he might have connections issues with the panel and T-con. If there is a dark triangle at the bottom of the screen (about two feet long at bottom, peak of dark triangle about a foot above bottom), then it's a bad LED string.
In my case, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the panel, or the boards. There is a strip of LEDs that are pretty difficult to get to. About 50 screws, I'd estimate (though I don't remember, and don't have the TV anymore, could be closer to 30). With enough patience you can get the LED strip out. If you are able to CAREFULLY lay the TV flat on it's face, remove all the screws on the rear casing, pry-separate the front bezel from the rear casing, disconnect all the ribbon cables along the side and bottom of the LCD panel. Then either CAREFULLY remove the extremely thin and VERY FRAGILE lcd panel from the rest of the TV (or) remove the rest of the TV from the VERY FRAGILE and thin lcd panel. From here you will see a large glass (plastic?) panel in front of white reflective plastic film. Remove both of these carefully. (NOTE: if you bend the white reflective plastic film, this will cause the very common large white spots in your picture.) After the reflective package is out you will have access to the 3 LED strips along the bottom of the TV. Unplug and remove the strip that is faulty. In my case, the dead LED was visibly cracked, so it was easy to find. If they all look ok, a TV repair friend suggested to use a 9V battery with small wires to test each light individually. They alternate in polarity, and are strung in series, so if you got this far, you can probably get through the testing for dead LED part. (don't look directly at the LEDs when testing. Trust me, they are wicked bright! Even looking away is not good. Use a hand or object to shield your eyes. You will know if they're on or not.) Once you determine which LED is dead, use thin wire and solder a jump across the dead one. It won't matter that the jumped LED isn't lit, there's like 20 per string, and you will never notice once the TV is back together. BE EXTRA CAREFUL IN PUTTING THE TV BACK TOGETHER.
(In my case, I had little trouble repairing (jumping) the LED, taking 1-2 hours to get to the soldering part. Unfortunately in the process of putting the TV back together, I carelessly managed to crack the LCD panel, thus rendering my 70" tv almost worthless, and wasting 2 hours of my day.)
Did I mention be careful with the LCD panel?
Also, probably use at least 2 people.
    ... AND BE CAREFUL."

Well I have been following this thread closely I also obtained this model TV. The symptoms are sound back light no picture. I found no 3.3 volt or 1.0 volt on the tcon board. It tries to come up upon start up but then dies off quickly. This is with or without the panel ribbon cables connected to the tcon board. So I found a supplier on eBay that says that he has a brand new t-con board never used and I purchased it put it in today without connecting the panel and I had no 1.0 or 3.3v still. And of course it does not provide an image. So my philosophy is a bad batch of t-con boards and I'm understanding the EEPROM on the t-con board is the culprit. I'm suspecting that this board probably had an issue and was removed from someone thinking it was a bad panel. There seems to be an awfully lot of these boards failing with this model TV. Of course the screen is made by sharp. I have had nothing but good luck with Sharp LCD panels so I highly doubt the panel is suspest.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
            by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Hey all, want to poke the hive mind here for a technology I must be missing something critical about I can't discern from looking at spec sheets alone.

I have an ATGames Legends Pinball machine, the playfield is a 32" LCD Display. I'm trying to attach an LCD controller to it for direct PC access, as others have been successful.

The LCD is a SPLENDID CD320B01A-350 (I think it's a custom panel for ATGames as google turns up nothing), which is mated to a HV320FHB-N02 (47-6021088) T-CON board (this is probably the important component anyhow)

            The LCD...

            Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

            Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.
