KDL-46S4100 takes time to turn on then shuts off

I got my hand on Sony KDL-46S4100. When I press power button it takes ~15 seconds to turn the lamps on (not sure if that is normal or not). Nothing shows on the panel, but the lamps are on. No reaction if I press/change menu, input, volume or channel. 30 seconds after the lamps turn of the TV shuts down and goes to stand by with red LED. No blink codes, apparently this model does not communicate with its owners

The PSU looks OK and voltages check out. The 6.5V is a little high at 7.15V, but rest is fine.

I have found one article online that suggest that the main board is the issue. Anyone can provide any more info?

    Thanks

This is a little bad diagnosing, but it appears the the main boards are relatively expensive for this model, so it may just be a common problem. Thoughts?

Check both sides of the t-con fuse you should get 12 volts.
Need to see if the T-con is getting anything from mainboard.

The mainboard is sending the ps-on signal to the power supply as its turning on the backlight

T con fuse reads OK. 12V on both sides.
I will look through the manual next, thanks for the link.

Re: KDL-46S4100 takes time to turn on then shuts off

I looked through the manual, it is great, where can I get more for other models?

While looking over the manual I went with no video problem (flowchart E, page 37) and I am at a last step where I have to "Check LVDS cable Video Signal Levels CN2501/pins 1,4,8,14,28 & at TCON Brd" however I do not have an oscilloscope. Based on the results it is the panel or the main board (board A)

On page 24, there is a table which tells me that video signals should read about 30mVAC. I do not have that sensitive volt meter on AC, but when I do measure them I get ~2.4VAC; which is over the norm. Should I take that as "bad level" and follow the flowchart E (pg 37) to assume it is the main board (board A)?

Asus S500 --something I've never seen before.

                Hi,

I have something I've never seen before.

I've received an Asus laptop that had a short in the DC input. I found that the second MOSFET in the DC input line was heating up, so I replaced it, and now the laptop works. Great, isn't it?

Now, for the odd part: the mosfet replaced wasn't measuring as short or having low impedance on the board either before or after I replaced it. It was an "A5 GND" mosfet, which I swapped for something I had in stock—some N-type 30V MOSFET.

Now the laptop works fine, but when it restarts,...

Gaming Laptop Zephyrus S17 TFT not detected every time !
                by titomno2
                Hi guys,
I post my problem here because I think it could be a capacitor related issue (Asus support on this particular subject is non-existing).
So the computer is a Zephyrus-S17-GX735LXS-26T and the strange behavior is seen.
On cold start most of the time the internal screen is detected and a picture it works fine until shutdown, sleep or deep sleep.
Then the screen won't work for a long period of time.
If I wait 1 or 2 hours it work again most of the time.
When it doesn't work the batterie indicator blink 3 times white stop and the same schematic is repeated...

Hey all long time lurker here,

I'm stuck repairing this TV, at first everything works fine, can browse the internet watch somr channels for about one hour (sometimes it's half an hour or more) and then boom it just dies like nothing works no standby light, remote doesn't works, removing then putting back the cord etc. After waiting for quite a while it just keeps working again.

                Things I've noticed

                - When it dies voltages on the output stage of the power board becomes 0v, no 12v no 3v3 (main caps still at the usual voltage) I checked the output caps...

Adding a clock battery to action camera to retain date&time when changing batteries Campark X25
                by flat-earther
I have a cheap action camera with an annoying trait, every time I change batteries the date & time gets reset and I have to set it again.

To solve this problem I want to add a small internal battery inside it which will keep supplying power to the camera for a while while I change batteries so the date & time is retained.

I have opened the camera and I think there is enough room to add something inside to accomplish this:

The camera is powered by a 3.7V nominal single cell lithium ion battery.
So I need to connect another battery in...
