Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR4 screen flashing and colored lines!

While watching tv yesterday, my screen went black (the backlight was still on). The screen then began flashing on and off with random thick grey vertical bars and a full screen of colored lines. It does this on every channel and input (mind you I can't even see the number) and even the menu. Eventually the tv shut off and the standby light began flashing 5 times and repeats.

I opened up the set to investigate. When I wiggle either end of the LVDS cable nothing changes. If I unplug the cable from the UB1 board, the screen goes completely blank and after a few seconds the tv shuts off and displays the same 5 blink error code. When the cable is plugged in the screen flashes as I said, but the backlight is flashing on and off, not just the image. At one point It just stayed full of the colored lines until I shut It off.

About 6 months ago while repairing the tab bond issue, I accidently shorted the TCON and blew the fuse on It. I replaced the fuse and the set has been working great until now.

My question is, does this sound like the TCON is dying, or something else? Thanks in advance for help!

I must add that no matter what is happening on the screen, there is no distinguishable image, only the lines and blank glow with grey bars.

I found a used TCON on eBay for $25 that the long number printed on the board matches mine exactly including the voltage. Will this then be compatible? Or does the number on the sticker have to match? I don't know what that number is as the seller did not put it in the ad, and I can't read it on the photo.

Also, might be worth mentioning.. Ever since I fixed the far right tab I have had a few color lines near that are that run down the screen. It started off as a thick black line and eventually It broke apart into 6 or 8 1 pixel colored lines. Lately it's been only 2 pixels wide, usually green or yellow in color, and after the tv has been on for an hour or so they almost disappear completely. Does this point at at a TCON issue, or is It likely just the pressure applied on the tab bond?

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR4 screen flashing and colored lines!

Ive just completed some more testing. Following the instructions in this post, ive determined my UB-1 board is fine. After a few minutes the screen stayed full of colored vertical lines and through the entire testing my sound remained on. I'm almost certain now its the TCON, so im going to order one from eBay.

Here are a couple videos of what is happening
      Rapid flashing then stays solid
      Flashes with changing colors

I put in the new TCON and the tv is working perfectly again! Overall I see no change in color, however It seems more vibrant than before which is a good thing. I think either I got lucky or It was because I choose a replacement with the same exact model number and voltage.

Either way I'm happy it's back to life!

SONY BRAVIA XBR-55A8H - White horizontal lines / red LED flashes four times
            by thstuff
This "free from a friend who was going to recycle it" SONY BRAVIA XBR-55A8H arrived with the bottom center RED LED repeating a four flash pattern. It was treated with kid gloves and was reported to have "just gone dead" and the OLED panel has no dents in the metal frame or cracks.

Thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1091829 helped in proceeding as follows:
            1) Unplugged, then plugged set in while holding the remote VOL- and Power to factory reset.

            2) Waited 30 seconds, then pressed remote Power button and "Select language"...

Elitebooks (820, 840 etc. all gens) and those continuously flashing Power LED + flashing CapsLock LED
            by STKR123
As the Elitebooks (820, 840 all gens) only show flashing Power LED and flashing CapsLock (continuously) + a very soft "ticking" noise near the DC Jack,
I wonder if re-flashing the BIOS might be of any use here.

As far as I understood, steady flashing either means insufficient power or a CPU/GPU/Motherboard issue. I use the original 65watt power supply.

There are so many threads out there, but most of the solutions involve flashing codes, which I dont have or claim that you MUST use the original power supply, do a hard reset, reseat the RAM, clean the RAM,...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
            by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
            • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
            • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

            Vizio M58Q7 colored horizontal lines
            by rapid911
Hi guys, I have a Vizio M58Q7-J01 and now there are some colored horizontal lines on the screen. Could someone tell me if it's probably a panel issue or something related to other parts and can be fixed? Thank you in advance....

Flashing Horizontal Lines on TCL LED55p65US in the Jungle
            by Villiager
I am in the jungle visiting family and I always try to fix all their electronics while I am here

A few years ago I gave a family a TCL LED55P65US tv, and now i am back and it is having some issues.

There are constant, shifting horrizontal lines across the screen and the screen flashes every 1.5 seconds or so, as seen in the attached gif.

Ive been through a few troubleshooting steps and no luck so far.

Does this seem like a possible T-Con board issue or does this seem unrepairable? The tv has been in a high heat and high humidity area, and the...
