    Is this normal? Sony KDL-V40XBR1

The attached pictures (front and back view) are of the T-con board from my Sony Bravia KDL-V40XBR1. On the top side there is a silicone like grease oozing from some of the components and on the corresponding back side there are some high temperature markings.

The angle of the board had to be just right for the markings to show up in the pictures. Is this confirmation of a defective T-con board?

That looks like flux and heat marks from an IC replacement but was never cleaned up.

Ok what are your symptoms and give us clear pictures of all boards and layout.

Sony KD-65X7000E - Screen double images for first few minutes then back to normal
          by beetle1303
          Hi,
I have gotten this Sony KD-65X7000E TV completely dead. According to owner TV was working fine and suddenly blackout and not able to power on again.
Checked and found D751 rectifying diode shorted, replaced and now power up and working almost normally:

          1) On power up - display double images, and flicker once every few seconds.
          2) After 3-4 minutes at this state - display suddenly back to perfectly normal (although there are few horizontal lines at the bottom of screen).
          3) Leaving on for few minutes, power off and on again will repeat the same...

          Sony KDL-46HX850 Can't upgrade/update firmware
          by dkneyle
Diagnosed this TV as having a failed main board which I've replaced with one from a KDL 55HX850. They are (supposedly) the same board.

Being 'Smart TV' it requires a firmware reboot when you swap out boards such as T-Con or main board. It starts with a black screen and flashing yellow and green LEDS, indicating it needs that firmware boot. The procedure described all over the web is to put the software into the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB drive and it should load that up once plugged into USB1 port. But not for me. I can see the LED on the USB chip flash for about...

          Macbook A2179 820-01958
          by Instafixx
          Hi,
Have a Macbook A2179 with liquid damage. Customer showed it some shop which has done an ultrasonic cleaning of the board.
The board pulls 0V but doesnt turn on. No Fan SPIN. NOT IN DFU.

I checked the Power Sequences below and found this -

Once a valid external power source (Charger or battery) is connected, the following rails will come online.
PPBUS_G3H: Normal voltage is ~12.6v on the charger with the battery disconnected. Produced from the ISL9240 (U7000, which uses PPDCIN_G3H as its VIN.
PP3v3_G3H_RTC: Normal voltage is ~3.3v. Produced...
