Dynex Dynex DX-PDP42-09 Plasma Fixed Itself?

    Hello,

I picked this non working TV up cheap at a yard sale. The guy said when plugged in there would be a couple clicking sounds and the standby light would come on, but the TV would not turn on.

I brought it home and took the back off. I plugged it in and heard a clicking noise and saw a green light flashing on a small board attached to the PSU board.
Pressing the power button did not do anything and the standby light was lit solid.

I had other things to do so I unplugged the TV until I had time to start measuring voltages.

Later that evening I got out my dmm and plugged the TV back in and started measuring the voltages, then pressed the power button and to my surprise the TV turned on and started working. All voltages that I could see printed next to the various connectors were right on.

Now I know TVs don't just magically fix themselves so I wonder what the original problem was? Maybe some weak caps?

The panel is a Samsung S42AX-YB09.
The psu board is PS-42 W3-STD.

Edit: Also, when the TV is on I can hear a buzzing noise that seems like it is coming from either the left side of the PSU or the y-main. It isn't very loud, but would probably be noticeable during quiet moments while watching a movie.

    thanks

The "noise" can be a few loose screws causing vibration in the boards but it can be also the panel that you hear.
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

Bumping serves no real purpose here as the users likely to help you will anyway when they get the time to.

Could be a bad solder joint that got nudged while taking measurements.

The noise sounds like an electronic buzzing, but i will check all the screws anyways.
Oddly enough I also have a 32" Philips LCD that buzzes from the psu board that I could never pinpoint the cause.

sorry for bumping..it's a force of habit from other forums I belong to where its the norm..I will take the PSU board off and see if there are any bad solder joints.

          thanks

Razor Blade Steath 13" RZ09-01963 plugged in Not Charging (new battery)
            by Shinju
            Hey All!

Long time forum member here with a problematic laptop issue!

I got a RZ09-0196 with a bloated battery (still worked and charged fine) I pulled the old cell pack out and installed a new cell pack in its place.

The laptop would not power on with the new battery installed without the power supply being plugged in.

When booting into Win10 (all up to date BTW) I saw the battery icon with 49% plugged in not charging.

TL;Dr version, old battery worked, charged but was bloated, installed a new non OEM replacement, laptop/windows...

Samsung UN55NU7300F Curved TV. Half side backlight out. Fixed by just removing the rear snap cover
            by howardc64
TV was fixed just after removing Samsung's rear snap cover.

This curved TV's construction is rather interesting. When the snapped on back is removed, rest of the TV will relax the curvature. Top of LCD panel is loose as it wants to straighten out against the slightly curved bezel. Snapped back provide most of the curvature shape. So just simple disassembly of rear cover will allow the rest of the TV frame to relax its curvature. Thats probably what fixed it but no idea which connection. 4x LEDs are edge lit.

Maybe PSU->backlight connector didn't have a good contact?...

            Hello,
I am having Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV. While the TV was working, a crackling sound heard & video went off with audio still ON. After switching it off & ON, the red LED on TV blinks six times & then off.
Opened TV cover & observed foll
            a) Green LED on the small PCB blinks at @5-6sec ON & off for 3-4 secs. Red LED on logic board ON
b)Vs & Va on power supply board raises momentarily to 209v & 58v resp & then drops.
            c) Cold test on Y-main board shows all 3 pins of FGPF4536 IGBT short to Grnd.
How to confirm Y -Buffer board...

Asus Rog GL502VM Rev 2.0 - Power button LED on as soon as plugged in but no video or fans
            by zwect
I have this Asus ROG laptop (the 1060 + 6700HQ variant) which lights up the power button's LED when i plug the charger in but does nothing else. Opening up there are no signs of any burnt or corroded components, i've checked the resistance of both CPU and GPU's cores on the caps underside them, the CPU's VCCCORE's caps read 1.2ohm and the GPU's NVVDD read about 0.5 to 0.6ohm. I then tried to check any voltages while the laptop is plugged in (without any of the removable parts) and the GPU's core voltage instantly goes to 0.8v when plugged then getting slowly warm, the PCH does so too (not so warm...

            Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks
            by jm1234
            Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...
