    Panasonic Plasma visual diagnosis

Edit: Model No: TC-P42S30 / Panasonic Viera
I would edit the title if I could!

    Hello users

I am hoping you can help me diagnose what board/buffer/unit needs to be replaced to fix my TV.
Based on research using a guide on this website, I believe it to be the Y-buffer (or SC Board in Panasonic lingo).

I do not know if it is the Y-buffers (the top/bottom/both) units or the Y-sustain that needs to be replaced.
I've also heard it could be the PSU.

    What do the experts think?
Thanks for the help!! You guys help save a lot of money!

    More description:

This snow goes away if I turn the TV off and back on (sometimes).
Sometimes it comes on with it and sometimes it comes on without it and the snow interference returns in time. Random every time.

The snow interference can look different from time to time as well.

I saw a similar effect on a Pioneer. It was the control board.

          Thanks for a quick response!

Is Main Board and Control board synonymous with "Main A Board"? That is the part I am looking to replace based on your response

And also - any more people concur with the diagnosis?

Thanks! I hope this is cheap and easy

the question I'd have is it on all inputs and normal TV viewing or only with the xbox?

mainboard is all in one, no control boards.

all inputs. Sometimes it is a lot more intense coverage across the screen

                Re: Panasonic Plasma visual diagnosis

yep, mainboard then. Having a guess but could be the BGA chip breaking free, so changes in temp may explain the intermittancy of the issue.

pay attention to the revision of the boards so you get the correct one that matches your panel size.!

looks like there are 3 versions listed on SJ for 42S30 and like so many other bits, expensive and rare. maybe a ModuslinkPTS job

                  TNPH0914
                  TNPH0914AH

Thank you for your continued support.

I am not all too familiar with confirming board versions.
Safe to say that I can just order a straight up tnph0914 no suffix?

Also- seems easy enough to do alone rather than sending to third party yea?

does appear to be no suffix. If the SJ info is correct then the other 2 versions should be ok too.

looked at modus and ouch! $165 for the no rev repaired but others are substantially cheaper? Have seen this in the past and asked them why which result in some price adjustments. maybe you could negotiate?

                        No REV $165 https://www.moduslinkptstvboards.com...ic-a-tnph0914/

                        Rev AH, $122 http://www.moduslinkptstvboards.com/TXNA2PKUUS/

                        Rev AQ $112 http://www.moduslinkptstvboards.com/txn-a3pkuus/

If I was sending this in , I'd give a good description of the symptoms and send the images you have of the fault too to assist them.

Correct me if I am wrong but its just screwing in another board and popping back in the ribbons and clips yea?

I found the board for $90 from another supplier.
I can just order it and pop it in myself. No real knowledge of how-to required for this if I am understanding correctly.

plug and play. lift the catch to extract the ribbons is about as hard as it should get.

Flog the defective board on Ebay as a core. I was surprised at what people are asking for DEAD boards now.

Where did you find a board?

Oh, that's nice put it all on us. I'm sure if it is not this you can resell the board.

Of course you could find a real TV guy and see if he'll diagnose it for Free.(jokes)
