    LG 50PM6700 Panel problem

I have a TV that had a faulty power supply. It was a 1250V 22nF cap.
Replaced that and the TV ran fine for 2 days. Then stopped. Took it apart turns out it is the top buffer board that has failed.
The model of the tv is 50PM6700. It is a 3D tv, but I have found it has the same panel as The PA4500 and PA6500 and probably others. I looked for the plastic tab that breaks and cuts into the ribbon cable on the top but can't find it. My Tv may have a different frame that eliminated that problem.
The top IC on the buffer tested bad. What is the chance of it being just the buffer. From what I read it looks low.
    Cheers

Did you ever get a line running left to right? If not, you MAY be lucky... Check the ribbon for damage (it will be hard to see, but if you bend the ribbon back you'll typically be able to see a little tear in it)

Pull the buffer out of the set. Make sure the screen-tabs are not touching any metalwork, and all screws that hold all the other boards are fitted and snug--and fire her up....

IF the Y-SUS, PSU, Z-SUS etc is OK, you'll have correct Vs, Va VSC and -Vy voltages along with sound. This will indicate all is well and just a buffer should do it

      (--No picture obviously without buffer.....)

No, never got a line. Was watching one night then turned it off. In the morning it wouldn't turn on.
With the top buffer out the bottom half of the screen turns on with sound.
If the line is the indication, i'll try and source another buffer board.
        Cheers.

I don't guarantee it'll show the line before failure, but on all the other sets over I've seen all users reported seeing a line before failure. I would suggest checking that ribbon first though.

            Lenovo T580 - LCD Panel problem - error 0288
            by perzyk23
            Good morning,
I have a problem with Lenovo T580, which after error code 0288 suggests a problem with the display. I checked the display and it works on another laptop. I replaced the display cable with a new one. I programmed another BIOS (downloaded from this forum) and I still have the problem of a dead display - there is an image via HDMI, and the system does not detect the built-in LCD at all. The problem appears to be hardware. What can I check to confirm or disprove this? I found many threads on the Internet related to this problem 0288, but without specific solutions. Please advise....

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
            by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
            • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
            • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

            Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

            TCL 49S405 double image
            by howardc64
LCD displays a 2nd image slighty offset vertically. And multiple pairs of black lines along the bottom. Probably common as google "TCL 49S405 double image" pulls up this ifixit post ( link ) with identical ( nearly, but their fault seems to be on the other half of the panel than mine ) problem without solution.

This one looks to be a more difficult to diagnose because most? of TCON seems integrated ( CSOT BGA on buffer baord) into the left panel edge board ( looking from rear of TV) There are 2 buffer boards for each 1/2 of the screen. Main connects to the left buffer board...

            Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

            Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...
