    Vizio Plasma VP50 HDTV20A Won't turn on

    Hi Everyone,

I recently picked up this Vizio VP50 HDTV20A plasma. The previous owners said one day it wouldn't turn on.

I hoped it would be a capacitor problem, but I don't see any bulged capacitors.

When the TV is plugged in it clicks and you can see the backlight in a dark room. All of this happens without the power button. The tv is unresponsive to the power button or any other buttons. The little light on the front stays an orange color. I can't see menus or anything else on the screen.

I've tried unplugging the x main and ysus boards separately and together but the TV still won't turn on with the power button.

It has the Samsung panel in it.

    What should I do next?

    There's 2 areas these fail.

    1. the psu, the Vs and Va blow or have cracked joints on the FETs. The long thin heatsink in the middle , check those FETs for short and or bad joints

    2. the more common fail is blown upper buffer board and failed ymain(check the 88N30W and the other FET on the same heatsink shorted)

UPPER buffers are impossible to find or cheap but i think there are some people offering buffer repair on ebay.

You'd have to way up the cost of the repair to what this TV is really worth
