    Lg 50pk590

    Hello, i have an LG Plasma here with an EAY60968801 PSU.
    I have read the threads with the same PSU and there is a repair kit i can buy, before i purchase i was hoping someone would confirm, or help me confirm this should sort the problem.

    The standby light comes on when i plug in the TV. When i press the power button on the remote i hear two clicks and the screen flashes white for less than a second then goes off. There is another click and the Tv goes back to standby.
    Thanks.

    firstly you can check various supply voltages such as Vs, Va, VSC, Ve

      Re: Lg 50pk590

      Thanks sordids999

      VS=201.4v
      VA=60.9v
      M5V=5.07v

      These seem to be spot on.

      I've just read on the Coppell website, that if all of the cables are disconnected apart from the AC then it is plugged in, a click followed by one or more within a second indicate a faulty PSU.
      I got 3 clicks, so i guess it is faulty.

        Check the 3 power resistors in the top right corner of the PSU.

            A good way to test the PSB is to buy a 200w service light bulb (maplins sell them) and solder it to the vs test point and ground.

            Furthermore if the 5watt resistors test good ive not heard many other types of failure for this PSB. Personally I've never seen the diode or ic go bad.

              Thanks guys, I've just measured the three resistors and get 10.5, 10.4 and 10.2 ohms.

              Is the y-sus the board on the left ? this is my first plasma i have worked on.

                    Yes i measured in circuit. I then removed one from the board and got the same.
                    So i connect the Zsus but leave the Ysus disconnected, then check the VS VA ?

                                      Ok check vsc, -vy, and zbais

                                      They should match your panel sticker.

                                      Like this.

                                      Vsc, and -vy are located on the ysus.
                                      Zbais on the zsus.

                                      -vy is measured sometimes across a resistor, but is marked with + and -

                                      All in dc volts.

                                          Hi all,

                                          I've got a LG 50PK590 plasma TV which upon plugging in will click three times and the red LED in the corner will come on and stay on, the TV however doesn't come on (no humming, sound, video, etc.) and using the touch controls or the remote does nothing. On exceptionally odd occasions, the TV will come on and work normally when plugged in and will last about 5 minutes before going back to off and unresponsive.

                                          I've got the back off of it and none of the caps stand out as visibly buggered, I've also tested the three resistors in the corner of the power board which...

                                          This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

                                          Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

                                          Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.

                                          Hi all.

                                          I started a thread while back regarding TV power supply standby circuitry as it is something I am not quite on top of.
                                          SMPS theory and function is becoming more familiar, however the standby part is still a bit of a mystery.

                                          Anyway, a friend has this TV with the above mentioned power supply board which has no standby voltage, nor any other voltages leaving the board.
                                          The mains AC comes in fine, gets filtered and rectified with power is on the main filter cap as well as the transformer and drain pins of the ICE3B0665J, but that's it.
                                          ...

                                          Hi All, I have an LG 50PK550 with the EAX61392501/10 EAY60968801 power supply board. When I turn it on it clicks and shuts off immediately, I have unpluged the power wires to to Zsus and Ysus board and it does the same thing. I have read up and replaced IC301 & d304 and checked the R927 R929 and all 3 fuses on the board and all appear ok. Still does the same, shuts off immediately with or without the z & ysus board hooked up. Any help would be appreciated. Thx
