    Magnavox 47MF437B/37

About 6 weeks ago, TV went out. would not turn on, made a chirping sound. Replaced the 2 zenor diodes, and 3 others. TV worked. For about a day then went back to the chirping. I bought a "standard" repair kit from LCD alternatives. (pack of capacitors & diodes) I replaced what they sent. Plugged my TV in, turned it on and heard a POP. I noticed I installed on of the capacitors, the 16v 2200 uF, backwards. Where do I go from here? Could this installation backwards cause damage to others parts......transformers, etc. Or did I fry the whole board? Cant find one anywhere online, none in stock...
I would like to repair this TV if possible. Any help would be appreciated.

why you could get lucky and replace the popped capacitor and all is well but usually it can do damage to other components I seen it both ways
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

capacitors are cheap. replace that blown one first. They do pop if installed backwards, but shouldn't fry something else. It doesn't have to be 16V cap. You can also put a 25V one, however the capacitance rating of 2200uF should be the same. Look for quality brand caps, like Nichicon PW series or Panasonic FM... good luck on the repair.

I've replaced the capacitor that blew. No difference. when plugged in, power light is red. Press it to turn on TV power button turns green. No sound or picture. Screen remains black. Any ideas what I can replace next? Was going to just buy a new power board but can't find one for this TV anywhere. Would like to repair this one.
          Thanks again for any help.

            Go to http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsear...q=996500045188

Check the parts listed and double check your installed kit parts....

You may need to float ( lift one leg ) of suspect parts to test accurately.

I think you are now due for pictures and voltage measurements on the power supply. Put the name of the pin with the voltage you measure.
You can also try to unplug the main board and force the PSU on and measure voltages.
Your standby circuit works, I am guessing that at least one of the other voltage rails is not giving anything, or a backlight problem.

PLP-60-48 Single Output LED Power Supply - "chirping" noise
                by tester001
                Dear Badcaps forum members,

Hope that you are all well!
I am a newbie on a mission to figure out the cause of the PSU making a "chirping" noise:

Having searched for this symptom online I have found some indication that failed capacitors may be an issue. To help with the troubleshooting, I have tried to isolate the problem and disconnected the PSU from the rest of the device - the chirping remained.
I have then found that the whole PSU (apart from a small add-on board) can be replaced, and there is even a datasheet for it: https://cdn.badc...

Ok I screwed up big time and hoping I can fix. I will break down what happened and the images.

Both sides are the same plug but different colors. The listing stated that colors would be random. OK I plug it in, red side to riser board, black side to GPU.

Magnavox 27MS5402/17 CRT - no picture, flashing green light
                by sudz28
I'm going to assume my beloved Magnavox CRT is toast, but also figured maybe this was a good opportunity to dip my toes into he circuitry waters and maybe learn something new. Also, I don't want to trash it if it's a fairly cheap/easy fix!

My 20-year-old Magnavox has gotten me and my kids through many a gaming console change and worked great up until the other day. Following a long distance move, it sat in our garage for a year and now that I brought it in and turned it on I get no picture; instead, a green light blinks on the front of it; 7 flashes, one long flash, then 3 more...

Magnavox 32MD350B/F7 getting a false on/off control voltage
                by barrybahr
                Hello,
The unit is stuck in an intermittent on/off cycle. When I plug in the power cord, the green "On" light activates without any command, flashes for a few seconds, then turns off. The red standby light comes on for a few seconds before the cycle repeats. During this time, I cannot turn off the unit manually; it will shut off automatically after about five minutes, and there is no picture. Occasionally, with repeated attempts to power it on, I eventually get a picture and sound, which function properly. When it does work, I measure several voltages, and they appear to be normal....
