Panel seen this a few times before.
If you take it down to the panel. Your problem isn't the top ribbon connections it actually the ones on the side. They don't actually connect to anything but for some reason, probably heat related they can distort the picture.

I had a Samsung LN32C450D 1G doing something similar. My upper screen was faded and the bottom about the same width showing good picture. Tried a new T-CON and that didn't work...So I went with bad panel diagnosis.
However I am looking for a main board for a LG 47" if you are scrapping for parts.

What's the part number? I can check my bins when I get home tonight.

            I concur, panel.

The little things hanging out the edge of the panel aren't useless - they're the gate drivers. They get their drive signal through the LCD glass itself and chain the signal to each IC. If they go bad you will see something like this usually only affecting 1/4 of the screen.

Cheers Tom, always wondered what they were for. Googled it before but didn't really get an answer.

I'm seeing a trend with LG panels with this problem.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                    by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

                    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
                    by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

un60j620dafxza - Samsung No Display Problem
                    by stylishconsultant
                    Hi All,

                    Need help.

I have a samsung un60j620dafxza led tv. When I plug it in it has no display, no sounds, and no standby lights.

So I opened the tv and disconnected the power to the mainboard and the backlight powered up. This according to many people says that this is a mainboard
problem. I checked the voltage coming from the stb and I read 1.3 volts on pins 1,3,5 and 7 which are low volts instead of 13 volts which i think the lcd panel
might be drawing too much power from the power supply that it prevents the right voltage going to the mainboard....
