take the other diode out of the IC to the left and measure the "knee" of the zener. Should be the same diode.

      Are these colors correct?
btw... I think it is a Rohm LL-34 package Zener Diodes RLZ Series

Hi CapLeaker, thanks for your reply.

Yes, you are correct on the colors. D5693 is shorted on the pictured board, on another A board that I have (the measurements is 321 and with the probes flipped 698).

Diodes can measure weird in circuit, so test it out of circuit again. Zeners are hard to check with the DMM, unless it is shorted. If it is leaky, you need a Zener testing device, but if you have another board, just change the Zener out.

Yeah you need a proper zener tester to find the breakdown voltage, a DMM usually won't output enough voltage.

I just got my TV going again with an A board I had ordered off of eBay for $24.99. So, awesome it worked. (TV had 10 blink code)

Did you progress with the zener issue at all. I was just looking at the cct and i get the impression it's for protection so if it was just that zener shorted but the cct was not with it removed would it have worked without out it?

                    Hi tw2005,
No, the extensive zener diode testing was beyond me.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

                      TV backlight zener diode
                      by unimatrix93
Hello everyone, I'm repairing an LG TV backlight and I noticed some strange behavior when I touching the backlight strip with a missing Zener diode.

So I replaced the leds on the strips and they seemingly working fine, but soon as I touch the strip which has a missing Zener diode the whole backlight turns off for a few seconds and then turns back on.

Is this caused by the missing diode? If so what kind of zener diode should I use to replace it?.

The led strips has 9 6V leds.

Mitsubishi CNC switching power supply board dead / relay board bad diode failure
                      by sam_sam_sam
I was working on this CNC machine today found no keyboard functioning no control relay powering on
The screen powered on and was giving an operation error but the manual was not very clear about what the error exactly was but with a little bit of troubleshooting and finding out that the control relays not powering on and no keyboard functions we narrowed down to this one switching power supply which of course does not have any indicator LED light they are on the keyboard interface/relay controller board

Found shorted diodes on main controller relays there are 3 of them that...

                      by hobostove
Hey there guys. I've got a Corsair power supply that's come across my bench dead. I usually don't mess with power supplies, but it's a slow week so I'm giving it a whirl.

Taking it apart I heard a screw rattling around inside, and when I got it apart I found a couple blown components near what I think is the 5VSB area.

There's a 22ohm resistor that's melted and open, but it still has the bands.

The other part is a zener diode and it's top went to jesus, so I can't read the marking.

It looks like the diode connects the source and drain of a TNY284...
