    Samsung HP-R4252 vertical lines issue.

Hey guys, it's been really dry here I happen to pick this thing up supercheap it seems like it's got to be either a logic board or mainboard as tapping on the back of the unit changes the way the lines Flickr or change colors or sometimes the goes away sort of.

Going to crack it open tomorrow and clean up some ribbon cable connections and see, the service menu didn't have any test patterns I'm assuming those are generated from the logic board.

I like these HP Samsung plasma panels they have a really good picture for a 720P seem to be pretty bulletproof too, pretty slow on getting panels from my sources so I thought I would try and save this ole girl.

When I ran the screen protection tools in the retail UI, the lines on the scrolling bar did not appear. When running the white wash it looked like I was seeing slight minimal image retention of the lines and UI text it would eventually appear to dither away.

Tried jumping the test-pattern jig on the back of the control panel? (pins 3-4 of 4pin header)

I'm not a big fan of the earlier Sammy panels, too much dithering and IR. If you want a decent cheapy panel for a bedroom or such a PZ80/PX80/PZ70/PX70 series Panasonic can't really be beaten. Power consumption is the only real disadvantage, the 1080p sets can pull 500W.

Gonna do that here in a bit. I don't plan on keeping this one if the repair is cheap I'll probably just end up giving it to somebody.

I got a samsung pn43d450a2d for the bedroom

So I finally found the test patterns, a small set of test patterns in DNIe lite and quite a few test patterns in PDP Options.

All of them passed, I am assuming (i have not cracked it open yet) that these are main board tests since the shopjimmy photo shows jumpers for logic board tests.

I'm never certain which patterns are generated by the control board but on one particular Panasonic set I was able to tell by disconnecting the LVDS cable while it was running. On one set of patterns the screen went blank, but on the others, the pattern remained. Take care while doing this of course.

              Naturally!

When looking at the main board on SJ. I didn't see a LVDS cable connection, again it might be on the back of the main or I missed it.

There will be one. Goes between main board & control board.

Ended up being a bad LVDS connector on the main board, I had it patched up enough to see it work with a clear picture and then the connector fell right off the board.

Apparently this is a pretty well known issue with this panel, I had some store credit at SJ and got a replacement board lol although I really dont know why as I have a feeling this panel will not sell.

Seems to have a pretty decent 720p picture though for an old Sammy Plasma, its built like a tank too.

I got a Panny TH-42PZ700U that will be taking up my time now, 7 blinks of love!
