How do I find part numbers

Is there an easy way or guide to cross-reference the part number stamped on a board with the part number on sites like digikey and mouser?
(i.e. - was looking for a diode listed as D7907 on a Sharpe power supply - I googled the board # and found an online post stating the part number for D7907 was 1N5383B which did show up on Mouser). Thanks

The Location number IE: D7907 will be different between all boards, If the part number of the component is 1N5383B then here is your Mouser location http://ca.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=1n5383b
