Toshiba 55WL863 Main AV Board faulty

Trying to obtain a replacement main board for above TV which is proving to be very difficult. The main board details as follows-
    V28A001298B1 PE0993B
I have however found exactly the same marked board for the 46 inch version of this TV. It has all the same features of its 55 inch big brother. Can anyone advise whether its likely to be compatible??

Only compatible if panels are same and all connections are identical. You will have to ask seller.
For example if your TV has a Samsung LTJ55A5JJ panel, you could use an LTJ46A5JJ... or LTJ32A5JJ... panel
(You might also be able to use other Samsung panels)

Many thanks Tom for your help. Toshiba have 3 models in the WL86 range. Emos unable to confirm but reckon there's a good chance that it would be the same panel used throughout the range. Ordered on the basis it can be returned if not compatible. We will see tomorrow!

Re: Toshiba 55WL863 Main AV Board faulty

Well the board arrived from Emos. Fitted the board and still got the same problem of a dead TV with no standby LED. Not sure now whether board they sent is itself faulty or whether PSU is at fault The PSU which is PA-3241-01TS-LF is the same board used in the following Toshiba LED TVs- 47TL515U, 55TL515U, 55SL417U and 55UL610U. I need to force the power supply on but theres no PS-ON pin on connector so not sure how to do it. Anybody got experience with this PSU and how to force voltages on?

No experience myself but usually it's PS ON jumpered to 5V STB with a small resistor, around 100 to 470 ohms usually works.

If you cant find the ps on pin as per post 5 can you post pictures of the connectors and any printing by them so we can see what other pins you maybe able use.

Many thanks for your replies. Not possible at the moment to take pictures of board but the details of connectors as below-

Two connectors to main AV board (PE0993 V28A001298B1) as follows-

                PJ91

                10. PWM
                9. BL_onoff
                8. Option
                7. Gnd
                6. 24V LNB
                5. Gnd
                4. 5Volt
                3. Power_TV
                2. Power_ Sig
                1. AC_Det

                PJ90

                12. Gnd_Sound
                11. Gnd_Sound
                10. 24v_Sound
                9. 24v_Sound
                8. Gnd
                7. Gnd
                6. Gnd
                5. Gnd
                4. 12v
                3. 12v
                2. 12v
                1. 12v

The following connector to LED driver board on opposite side of PSU-

                PJ860

                1. PWM
                2. BL_onoff
                3. Option
                4. Gnd_LED
                5. Gnd_LED
                6. Gnd_LED
                7. 24v_LED
                8. 24v_LED
                9. 24V_LED

I am sure that pins on PJ91 will force psu voltages on but have also included the other 2 connectors just in case there needed.
                Appreciate any help.

Re: Toshiba 55WL863 Main AV Board faulty

As a follow on to my last post. Thought I would also add that without mainboard connected only voltage produced on PJ91 is 5volts on pin4 which is as expected. With mainboard connected pin 1 AC_Det and pin 3 Power-Tv both have 3.27v. It therefore appears that the power supply is receiving the switch on voltage but not reacting to it. As I have no experience with this power supply pin markings would grateful for any help.

Use POWER_TV and POWER_SIG, likely both need to go HIGH.

Re: Toshiba 55WL863 Main AV Board faulty

Ok tried them both high and for the first time a noticeable click from power supply when switching power on again when switching off. Thats good news, but no other voltages present other than that derived from 5volts supply on connector PJ91.
As at the beginning of this thread original fault was dead with no standby led. I originally suspected the mainboard but a replacement from Emos didnt resolve the issue. Had no issues in the past with dud boards from Emos. It looks now like it may be the PSU but would be grateful for your thoughts before I try to obtain a replacement PSU.

Did you check for 5V standby?

Yes 5volt standby is the only voltage from the power supply when not connected to main board please see post 9. When main board connected it sends voltages of 3.27volts to Power_Tv pin and AC_Det to pin. There is no click of power supply but after your last post found out without mainboard attached if Power_TV and Power_Sig are fed by 5volt standby the PSU does click on when mains switched on and off when mains switched off but no other voltages are switched on.

Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:

Short answer: replace main board and power board
Technical answer: replace main board and Q306 & Q307 on power board.

                            Long answer:

TV wouldn't turn on. Power switch was fine which means the main board isn't processing the power on signal. Replaced main board. TV turns on now but randomly reboots. Bad main board? EEPROM? Tried to pull main board and got a shock touching the corner of the board. That's weird. C334 (450V 10uf) capacitor is still holding a high charge....

I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...
