LG 55lm6400 Bad panel or main?

I picked a LG 55lm6400 that has vertical lines on the right side of screen. Will get pictures up shortly. The tv powers on automatically once plugged in and there is no picture, menu nothing. Just prelit screen with 4 vertical lines on right side. The standby light is always on, does not respond to remote or power button on tv. I can unhook the lvds cable on the y drive boards, and then there is no lines on the screen anymore on either side with right or left lvds unhooked. What's the chances the main is bad?

No response from buttons or remote sounds like a mainboard problem. Try reseating all of the LVDS cables first. If that does not change anything then main is suspect.

Already cleaned/reseated lvds few times no change. I'm thinking main also just wanted a second opinion.

UPDATE! Found a lg 47lm series with busted panel local. Bought just the main, TV is back up and running perfect.

Very surprised... panel was OK? Nice fix. Maybe I'm too cynical but I would have called panel any day.

              • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
              • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.
              by triplefour
TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

              tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

Nevir 39" LCD acting up. Broken panel?
              by edugimeno
Hi! I got this TV that was supposed to "not work well".

I turned it on and the BL got lit but nothing was showing on screen

Opened it and found that the only PS voltages present (12v and backlight) were 100% perfect

Plugged it back in and the screen kind of started up showing a NEVIR logo but it was split into several chunks with also missing lines in between. Nothing else

Next time the screen showed an amorphous large color cloud in the screen swinging from side to side (maybe a screensaver picture) with all broken lines everywhere....

Looking for help with a Viewsonic VP230mb where the backlight comes on only momentarily
              by lostone
Hello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.

First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...
