    XVT3D554SV - Boot issues

I found this TV noted as "won't turn on" and grabbed it as an upgrade for one of my smaller sets. I got it home, plugged it in and it worked perfectly (see first pic). I does take a very long time for the initial standby to kick in (logo flashes 90-something times before going solid amber).

After about 15 or 20 minutes, I walked back by it and noticed that sound was still on, as was backlight, but the picture was now blank. It would not power off via the remote, so I pulled the power. At this point, I've seen references to this behavior on the internet (and I believe here) related to a t-con issue. I plugged it in, and it hasn't powered on since. At least, not properly. After the painfully-long blinking to a steady amber logo, pressing the power button (side or remote) turns the logo solid white, and 12v goes hot. After two minutes, it shuts down, begins the long sequence of flashes and attempts to power on again. Rinse and repeat with the two minutes of white logo until a reboot.

The 5.1v is always present, 12v comes on with the white logo. All fuses are good (main board, power supply and t-con). There is a flashing blue LED on the LED driver board, I did not see it when the TV initially worked so I don't know if it was steady at that point. I isolated the t-con, then the LED driver board, with no change in behavior (though I didn't really expect to see any changes).

Is there a service manual available, and have these sets been seen enough to build a familiarity and "common cause" knowledge? It now acts like a typical Vizio bad eeprom, but what bugs me is that initial time when it did work (before it somewhat froze). Are the eeproms available for these, versus replacing the entire main board (if that's what it turns out to be)?

Also, in the power supply picture the bottom-most (which is actually right-most since the pics showed up here sideways for some reason) transformer gives a pretty good buzz while it's turned on.

      It's identical to this post:

      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=29914

So unless I can come up with another reason, I'll order a replacement t-con.

Does sound like a main board problem if you weren't able to turn it off when it went blank.

looks like the x's are starting to show on a couple of the tcon caps, dont necessarily mean theyr bad, why not? try a tcon, if you get a good one, then if it dont work, you can rule it out, and you have a spare.

could very well be a mainboard issue, mainboards usually cost much more than tcons do, thats why I when in doubt I start with it, I dont mind having a spare tcon on hand, just in case.

The vents on smd caps normally look bloated slightly outwards, they arent bad at all especially of the age of the tv.

Let me rephrase that for you, smd style electolytics the vents normally look pushed outwards even when the caps are good, not sure why maybe due to the angle of light.

Yes, those are a 470uf cap and every single one on every board (t-con, main board, etc) have visibly-creased vents. I can't believe that every single one went bad. And I agree - the t-con is cheap at only 40 bucks, and my symptoms are 100% exactly like that other thread (down to the flashing blue LED). So I'll get one ordered.

you could be on the right track with the eeprom too, hard to tell.

It is, definitely. If I could find just the eeprom alone, I'd snag that. But for the cost of the entire main board, I'll wait to see how the t-con goes

maybe put in the number on your eeprom, might be able to locate one, looks like they run from 10-20 bucks.

I'm not able to positively identify which is the eeprom on this board, I took pictures of all of them for future reference. But no matter, as for now I'm keeping an eye out for a t-con. I just keep going back to the other post with absolutely the same symptoms (even the initial successful power on). Now to find one in stock somewhere for a reasonable price.

Here's everything I found on the board (front and back). Extra pics, some of them I know aren't the eeprom but decided that if I was taking pictures I might as well capture everything. Did not take pics of the memory from the solder side of the board.

Hi, I have a few of these & they came with a custom bios boot logo, no passwords etc.

2 x were brand new unused but with custom boot logo, 1 I installed Windows/ran updates then it bricked itself. 1 wouldn't get past the custom bios boot logo.

The third I loaded windows, took a backup of the bios chip, then tried to flash several different clean bios's via programmer which all caused it to not boot. I tried to reflash the original bios both using clip & desoldering but...

as stated in the title, my surface 7 pro wont boot anymore.
When i press the power button it shows the square windows logo for a second and immediately turtns off again.
I dont even have a chance to get into bios or boot from usb.

I dont know what that is exactly, but i never tinkered with the bios or windows in terms of hacking/patching etc.

Fujitsu Esprimo K557/24 allinone desktop, boot logo

                                          Hello forum!

I have received a lot of help here, regarding bios modding. Very thankful!

Now I have a lot of Fujitsu K557 desktops, and those have custom bios logo/custom splash screen, and I need to change them to the original Fujitsu logo.

I am looking for the easiest way, because I have about 40pcs of them, and I think there is some "official" way to do this.

I have tried a lot of Fujitsu tools, which can inject the logo to the bios file, but no luck.

                                          Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Everyone. I have a Mac for a topcase replacement. I have completed the job however the Mac will boot and I get the startup chimes but not pass the Apple Logo, not even a progress bar. After a few seconds the fan spins fast. The board is 820-01598-A. I have disconnected everything except the USB ports and display and the issue persists. I am drawing 20.42v and .461A with just the screen connected so it looks like it is booting. I have looked over the board with a scope and I do not see anything that appears wrong. I can not get into diagnostics, NVRAM reset or DFU. The only issue is the topcase...
