Philips 40PFL7605 Dark flickering area after replacing PSU

    Hi everyone!

Since my town is covered in snow i thought, hey, I'm gonna try to fix my TV. The initial problem occured after I fell asleep with the TV still on, and when I woke up there was nothing but darkness. I tried all the janitor solutions (restart, unplug, plug back in, knock on it, swear etc.) and soon discovered that wasn't gonna work, so I learned that I could do a flashlight test.

    Said and done.

The image was there though there was no backlight, so I youtubed hundreds of ShopJimmy videos and finally opened my tv and tried to kick start
the backlight according to this video: ShopJimmy on Youtube , the voltages looked OK (I'm no expert though), but there was no backlight so i took a shot and ordered a new PSU board from ebay.

The broken PSU had the part number: 272217190167 so i ordered the only one on ebay that matched.

    Image: OldPSU

When it arrived I saw it was not exactly the same but it had the same connections and i figured it was a newer version
or something like that, this had the part number: 272217190246

    Image: NewPSU1

Anyway, I installed the new one which fitted perfectly, and when I turned it on it flickered a bit and then I saw the light. The backlight that is.

After I high fived myself several times my girlfriend said that there was something dark on the screen, at first i didn't see it
but when a bright scene appered I saw the dark smudge. Curtains down.

So.. now i have backlight, but with a dark smudge covering the lower right part of the screen that wasn't there before, and if I look closely at the dark part i also flickers a bit. But only that part. The rest is perfect.

So i just started to check the settings and discovered that if I change the image settings to "Dynamic" the whole screen flickers
plus there is a loud high pitched "WHEEEEEEEEEEE" coming from this yellow thing on the board. The sound almost disappears
when i choose another image setting, for example "Game". Before everything, I could use "Dynamic" without any issues.

Image with the yellow thing marked out: NewPSU2

I also checked the voltages on the new board and didn't find anything suspicious (First time I measure a TV, wouldn't really
know what suspicious is), but then i got a little head bent
when i saw that the little info text (Seen on NewPSU3) "12Vssb: 12.3V..." and my measure gave 12.02V.

The other readings were as follows according to image NewPSU3

    From the top down
    POK: 2.98
    NC: 0
    Boost: 1
    DIM: 3.2
    BLON: 2.94
    GND: 0
    GND: 0
    12V: 12.02
    12V: 12.02
    ---------------------

    NC: 0
    GND: 0
    Vsnd: 24.4
    12V: 12.02
    12V: 12.02
    12V: 12.02
    STB: 0,03
    --: 3.3

I also tested to kickstart the backlight with the new board to rule out the main board and i could see through the tiny holes on the back that the backlight is a little dimmer behind the darkness even with only backlighting.

I have tried bending the panel, tapping here and there and "massageing" the pixels, nothing happens. Darkness and flickerness remains.

Any ideas on how to, if possible, fix this? Is the dark flickering area and the wheezing with "Dynamic" setting correlated or two different problems?

I am equipped with a digital multimeter and a patience beyond this world.

    Thanks!

Philips 32PFL4901/F8 BA5DFGG0201 1 Backlight is present but no image

    Hello there!
Have this Philips with no image at all. When I plug it to the outlet, it turns on without pressing the power button, and after a moment, it turns off, then starts again. I checked the 12v and 3.3v voltages on the main board connector that goes to the T-con, but it only has the former (12v). Any clues, guys?...

Philips 65PUS8518/12 distorted image after main board replacement
    by tuner2000i
    hello everyone,

I don't normally do tv repairs but this is a case with my personal TV which got fried together with many other electronics in my house after a thunderstorm.

The TV is a Philips 65PUS8518/12 which had no power. I measured and concluded that the main board was probably fried through ethernet or hdmi. I found a board with same number 715GD328-M0F-B00-005Y (I had G) but from a 55PUS8518. The TV starts but the image is doubled, distorted. I need to set the panel code which is 016 according to the sticker on the back but I can not seem to do it.

Philips 58PUS8536/12 Backlight ok, no image
    by malekservis
    Hello,
the TV turns on fine, seems to be working, but shows no image outside of a thick white vertical line as it turns on that also disappears almost instantly, and then it's just backlight. I've tried unplugging either side, but still can't get an image. I suspect it's a panel issue, but thought i'd ask some smarter people to confirm. I haven't found any weird readings, but then again i'm just randomly poking around with a multimeter.

    Any information would be appreciated....

    Dell U27HM flickering/quarter image/black with smeared colors
    by cjard
    Hi all

Wondering if I could get some insight on a Dell U27HM. First turned it on and the image was completely black. I later realised that if I dragged a window from one monitor to (the broken) other one then smeared colors would appear on the bottom 75% of the screen. After being on for several hours the top part of the screen started flickering showing an image (I have a video of this) and then suddenly the image appeared albeit rather fuzzy in the bottom 75% - image attached - and some hour later it now appears normal

I do have two of these monitors so a compare/swap...
