Samsung Ps50c680 2/6ths of screen black. Replaced y buffer. Scrap?

    Hi Guys

I have a samsung 50" plasma with large areas (horizontal bands) of the screen permanently black. Tv works fine above and below them and menus also do not show up within the bands.

The Y buffer has 6 tabs going to the panel and tabs 4 and 5 seem to be the culprit...matching the black band areas which are equal to 1/6th of the screen each.

I have swapped the y buffer board but this has not cured it...exactly the same fault remains.

I am suspecting its the panel as I cannot see how anything else could give this effect...anything else I can try before scrapping?

    Thanks for any help.

Are the connections on the X-main side ok? The fault you describe is very unusual. Any cracks in the panel?

Good to have an unusual fault for debating.

      Panel appears undamaged.

I haven't paid much attention to the x main...connections seem fine. The 4 tabs don't seem to be correlating to the banded area. Could there be something there?

could we have a picture of the fault? what you're describing kind of sounds like a panel issue these black bars at span horizontally consist of individual lines in a group it sounds and what you're saying is the menu coincides with in the area above or below the black bars but you can't see anything through them right? It kind of sounds like a panel issue and I have seen this a few times with Samsung's. somehow wear the ribbon cable meets into the panel where it is fused they become detached from the connection where it goes into the phosphors. Not repairable

I can post a pic later but its simply an approx 8" solid uniform black band approx 4" off the bottom of the screen.

It may just be the most boring pic ever...

Well, feast your eyes on the enclosed pic.

The band is black not grey as may seem on the pic.

                Thanks chaps

Looking at the pic, maybe my diagnosis about tabs 4 and 5 may not be 100% accurate....

Screen is 25" high in total. top section is 8", black band is 13" and bottom is 4".

So, it may be tabs 3,4 and 5 not working

I think you can rule out the buffer so either panel or ribbon/connection. Do you have any history on this set ?

                      Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
                      by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

samsung galaxy ao2s very temperamental after screen replaced
                      by Chrissygizmo
Hi , I've recently replaced the screen in my Samsung galaxy ao2s, at first it wouldn't even turn on, it had the charging symbol on the screen when plugged in but the green circle wasn't going around to show it charging....
Ive eventually managed to get it on and working but it's very temperamental...

The battery icon always reads as 50% , when the phone goes into lock screen mode i sometimes can't get the screen back on unless I plug the charger in to get it to light up, also it keeps putting the camera app on.. u think it could be something to do with the side buttons. ...

Samsung UN55J6200AFXZA Splash Screen Comes up, goes out, screen flashes one time and then tv won't turn off.
No picture. No sound that I can tell. Backlights are on and have been checked. Flashlight test no image on screen. I replaced the Eprom chip hoping that was the problem but nothing changed.
                      Please help. Thanks in advance!

                      by Kiberge
                      HI guys!

I've got a Samsung LH82QENELGC/EN with a problem and need some advice and I hope this is the forum to use?
I'm from Norway so I'd like to apology in advance if my description of the fault is kind of simple or the names on the components are way off. 😊

the TV is powering up, working as normally and picture is all good, except a 1.5-inch-wide vertical line of snow/static across the screen.

This TV is a Signage Display/Public Display version and it's been used at my work for 4-5 years showing commercials 24/7. The fault occurred when...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                      by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...
