Can two LCD Tvs be married up to make a good working one?

So I have a Samsung LE40A756 and a Samsung LE40M87, the 756's screen is bad yet the M87's is fine, the M87's main is not working so what kind of problems will I come up against trying to bring them both together if it's indeed possible?

I have some idea but I will leave it completely open to attract all ideas, thanks, Andy.

Well, if the panels are the same it ought to work. If not, it's a crap-shoot, no guarantees at all.

I have done it with Samsung both were different panel makes but shared the same parts between the 2 even the T-con. Made one working panel out of 2 and its still going strong almost 1 year later

Yep, panels are different but both are made by AUO. I've noticed the pin out on the LVDS cables are slightly different so a rewire is probably going to be needed, I also need to look at the start up voltage for the inverter, it's either 12 or 24 volt so need to make sure there.

I will be using the 756's PSU plus main board with the M87's T-con and chassis, if I do decide to do it I'll post up some photos as I go along.

If anyone else has any ideas or experiences with doing something like this then please post up, thanks.

OK, through bringing one Tv next to the other(observing safety first with shielding, supports etc) and trying both LVDS cables we have success. So it's the LE40A756 that I want to get back up and working, through using all it's parts(still situated in the Tv) and using it's LVDS cable connected across to the LE40M87 we have a picture, looks perfectly normal with good control over the various functions so I'm happy, I just need to put it all together now, wish me luck:/.

So after a lot of messing around trying to get this to fit, that to work and the other I've finally got it working properly although there are a couple of small issues, I'll get to those soon. So using the M87's PSU, T-con and screen, and then the 756's main board, all appears to be working fine, I can enter the menus fine, remote works fine, a good stable back light etc, the only issue I have is the standby light keeps flashing while the Tv is on, I have no idea why???, it doesn't seem to effect anything but is slightly concerning, I also have a slight issue with the sound dropping out from time to time. It's early days and it will be tested to it's fullest extent over the next few days but if anyone knows what that flashing light is all about, then please help, thanks, Andy.

I've been playing with it a little more, I've noticed the back light control doesn't work, maybe this is the cause of the standby light flashing???
