      Re: Blaupunkt 42/188J Faulty Screen?

So just a bit of a follow up

Got this back today, a week after it was collected.

RMA Note states panel replaced and LVDS cable changed, TV tested OK

Power it on to see the screen light up with no menus or image.

Tried connecting a HDMI and changing the sources at this point the TV screen goes crazy either showing garbled/corrupt menus or the screen shows all sorts of different colours.

Rang UMC back up to tell them was told they'd be back in touch before dinner time, dinner time passed and still nothing eventually got back in touch about 2pm to be told they'd need to collect the TV again.

Recieved another email with another RMA for this to go back again and this time they're trying to blame the courier saying "damaged in transit", i'm no expert at all, but i'm guessing they've either not insert the LVDS cable incorrectly or not changed the panel number in the service menu.

Needless to say no apology from UMC and they just ignore any emails you send them.

Heh, looks like (another) bad LCD panel. Could be loose LVDS but I'd be surprised...

Are they really that bad? LOL. It amazes me how bad consumer electronics can be made to be.

I've emailed them asking for a explanation on why I waited hours for a phone call back on them waiting to speak to the engineer. With no actual explanation on what he/she said. Not that they'll tell me but blaming a courier just seems to me like a get out clause for them.

Surely a panel can't go bad in transit and was defective from the off and was probably never tested.

I'd had it just over 6 months when the problem started my extended warranty (18 months) runs out in December of this year, so once thats gone i'll be selling it as soon as possible.

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
                  by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
                  by smic717394
                  Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

Brother DCP-L2540DW scanner/printer - only showing blinking screen in LCD.
                  by Sam Scarbo
I got this broken printer from my brother who got it from the street. He asked me to help to fix it.

I need help on fixing this machine.

                  Issues/Observations:

                  1) When connected to power, it's not working. Only showing blinking screen on the LCD. See pics 1 and 2. It is blinking every 2 seconds.

                  2) I pressed the buttons on the control panel to see if there is any response. The "Options" button can turn off the LCD screen, and then press hold the power button for about 1 second can turn the blinking screen back on again. Other than...

                  Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
                  by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

Red patches on screen. Driver fault???
                  by MarkC1970
I have a strange fault that I need help understanding. The TV is run with a PCB labelled TP.MS6486.PB711.

As you will see in the pictures there is a red patch over the right hand side of the screen that is far more visible on a black background but never goes away. It appears like it is some sort of driver fault but I don't know enough about how these panels are driven to even guess where to start looking. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
