Vizio SV421XVT negative colors and black bar

Vizio SV421XVT with negative colors and black bar. Someone wants to sell me this TV.

My guess is they screwed up a service menu setting trying to fix the black bar to cause the negative colors. My first thought on the black bar is tab bonding or driver IC issue. Does that sound likely? See picture.

Could be you have two issues....One is a T-CON board issue and that should take care of the Negative colours and the other may be a TAB Bond issue....I would look at the T-CON board first and perhaps that may solve the vertical band issue also.

I ended up buying this and ordering a TCON for it for $17 from China. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

It looks like at has Gamma problem + dead TFT drive.

So I finally got some time to dig into this TV and I'm pretty sure the vertical bar is a panel issue. When I unplug that side of the screen's tcon connection, the horizontal lines/bar remains. I'm gonna strip it down tonight and fiddle with the tabs. Still waiting on the TCON from China.

Should have listened to this guy. It's a bad tab, check it out.

At least I can assume all the parts are good. I should still do alright parting it out. would be a good panel to test some home brew tab bonding techniques on.

Is that a torn in the flexible PCB? It looks like the traces to the TFT driver IC are damaged so you get that black vertical bar.

Bud, it's a burn and the tab is melted centering along one trace and taking out a handful of others with it. Any idea what could have caused this? Bad panel driver?

The driver IC on it has probably shorted. unrepairable...

A regional fault (fault affecting only one part of the screen) is *nearly always* a panel failure. The chance of a T-con fault is very low.
