    LG 42pq6000

    hi guys

    picked this tv up today originally had a fault where only half the screen was working but fixed this after cleaning out loads of dust and reseating the lvds ribbons,but i have also noticed that the remote control does not work on this tv i have tried 3 remotes the only thing that works is the turn off button even the side buttons do not respond
    also just for the record the tv takes roughly a minute to turn on not sure if thats normal for lg plasma ?

    thanks

    p.s the standby sensor is flashing on the front when trying to use the remote

      The standby light should not flash, I would check that a button is not jammed on the button panel. If possible, unplug it and just test with IR for now.

        already tried that tom if you disconnect the side buttons the tv will not turn on at all if you press buttons on remote the blue standby light flashes fine but nothing works on tv
        p.s both power switches are the only thing that works on the remote and side button

          could it be the control board causing this problem because the right side of the screen problem has come back and if i press a button on the remote it goes ?

            Sounds more like it could be main board related. Try disconnecting the LVDS cable between the main board and logic/control boards. Then put a little wire jumper across the "EXT AUTO GEN" points to engage the test patterns; what happens? Do the patterns appear OK? The TV will need to be turned on, but only plug it in when you have made all connection changes.

              yes test patterns are scrolling through look fine tom but on some light test patterns i can just about still see the half screen fault

                Run it for some time to make sure that's not just image retention. It is possible you have two faults here, but that would be odd.

                    I think there might be two faults yes.

                    Might be expensive to fix. At least Y-sustain, Z-sustain, power board and Y-buffer are guaranteed ok, you should recover your investment there easily.

                        tom last question would that cap cause this fault ?
                        its strange ive just realised the volume works on the remote but it wont show it on screen that its going up

                          Doubt it, what are you using to read the caps?

                          Have you tried a full factory reset? (Hold MENU on the TV and MENU on the remote then select "Factory Reset"; if prompted for a password use 1234 or 0000 or 3142)

                              ESR meter can't be used on these small caps. I doubt they will cause the issue. I will look into how to get service menu access.

                                I'm guessing since the user menu does not appear you won't be able to access the service menu through the normal mode. However it might be possible to send it commands over RS232 to access these modes... do you have a PC with an RS232 port on it ? I'm trying to find a command reference.

                                  Commands:

                                  ToolOption1 = ab 00 00
                                  ToolOption2 = ac 00 00
                                  ToolOption3 = af 00 00
                                  ToolOption4 = ag 00 00

                                  You need some way to send those commands, then you can access service menu.

                                      Port should be marked RS232 or IOIOI or Serial "Control/Service"

                                      You can use a USB to RS232 cable or a PC with an RS232 port.

                                          Hello all, I've been looking into this portable air conditioner's remote control and can't find what could be causing the problem - or possibly this remote is just terribly designed.

                                          The remote only works at exactly 3V - if I drop it any lower, using my bench power supply, to say, 2.9V then the remote will not flash the display and turn off. I don't have any AAA batteries that are exactly 1.5V each so I'm not sure if this remote is designed this way - to only use the freshest possible batteries, or if there's a failed component in the mix.

                                          I can't find any schematics...

                                          I have this receiver for at least 10 years. Usually, we just use the remote for turning on/off and adjusting the volume. Recently, the remote control started not able to turn the receiver on. Later, the volume also could not be adjusted by the remote control.

                                          At first, I thought that it was the usual problem which can be fixed by cleaning the contacts on the switches and the pcb. I opened the remote and clean it with alcohol. The remote did work again after that. But after one day, it did not work again. I opened it again and clean with alcohol and contact cleaner. Again it worked...

                                          Please help, where can I get a remote for my subwoofer?

                                          I’ve got a subwoofer that I’ve had for nearly 20 years, it did come with a basic remote which I’ve lost. It’s a generic make of subwoofer, I can’t see a brand sticker on it. It comes with 2 speakers.

                                          Question recently I’ve connected it up to my tv which has greatly improved the sound on my tv, however I’d like to be able to mute the subwoofer when ads come on or just mute it when the phone rings etc. I tried using a cheap all in one tv remote on the subwoofer and the volume button would only work to increase volume but not turn it down or mute it

                                          Is there...

                                          Samsung B2030HD IR Remote Receiver Dead, shorted micom?

                                          Hi,
                                          I have this TV a small 20 inch that works perfectly except for the IR has stopped. I have confirmed that the remote control is fine and tried an alternative and even tried with IR blaster from phone. Remote 100% ok.

                                          Tried installing latest firmware but no change.

                                          TV won't respond to remote at all, not even to bring it out of standby. I have to use the touch sensitive front panel to operate, at which point TV is usable albeit with no remote.

                                          Tried replacing the IR receiver diode/bulb on front panel and no change so put the old one back. After tracing...

                                          I have a rgb "holiday symphony" 600 led tree that I got for free but it has no remote which basically neuters the tree with just one color option and no music. The original remote is as 433.96 mhz rf remote. Here is the fcc link: https://fccid.io/2APJZ-PDT0093V.

                                          The manufacturer is Polygroup and are absolutely no help. As they offer no replacements to the most easily lost part. All they gave me was the model number of the remote and said google it and good luck. Of course nobody is selling them. Anyways I provided pictures of the reciever motherboard along with the rgb...
